It might be a shorter list to discuss what they’re not known for having fail. I kid. The joke in the original post is more of a blanket statement about all turn-of-the-millennium Daimler-Chrysler products being less-than-reliable, and their complex electrical and mechanical systems not being as robust as previous or…
This car can empty your wallet with one simple trick...
I know its a bit taboo, but the Roadkill guys recently worked a CJ2a project last month or so... I don’t think the episode is on youtube yet but it is on MT On Demand. If you haven’t seen it yet... just know you’re not alone in your struggles with the engine. I think you guys started with a worse example BUT are…
Indeed, it reeks of Roy Wort in here.
Bruh, y u no hand crank, as God intended?
Another Jalopnik-alum makes it in the real world. Good for him.
We didn’t get the Space Star, but we did get the Expo, so we have that going for us.
Oh yeah it was perfect for city driving in light - moderate traffic. The power was right where you needed it - mid range - but up hill on-ramps were that thing’s kryptonite.
Man, I love your enthusiasm. You obviously know what you’re doing, and have seen/experienced this all before, but you convey a genuine enthusiasm for that which others may consider mundane. That makes the videos a joy to watch.
What about just one per hemisphere, with a few floaters for when the dedicated groups are in for refit, and don’t schedule more for refit than you have floaters to cover for?
Also, pie is far superior to cake.
I’m not a proponent of carriers, don’t mistake my pedantry ref: word choice to think I support the ongoing use of carriers. But to say they haven’t had a use in battle since WWII is ignoring that they have been used... to launch and recover aircraft, that are/were used in battle.
I’m not a huge proponent of the carrier and its assorted battle group baggage. I was merely attempting to point out that carriers have been used in battle, in that they launched and recovered the aircraft that dropped the ordinance that assisted the ground pounders in their objectives. Just like, technically,…
Wow Ballaban, your Spanish is coming along nicely.
Right, but launching and recovering aircraft used in battle is technically a use. Without the carrier, the aircraft wouldn’t have been used in the battle. It is a support role, not the role of a direct combatant. But it is a role nonetheless.
He said (direct quote): “The last time an aircraft carrier has been used in battle was in World War II.”
I don’t think I properly emphasized specifically what I take issue with in the author’s article: his definition of “used in battle.” I posit that launching aircraft that are involved in direct combat is a “use” therefore he is wrong.
If we can agree that launching aircraft to be employed in a battle is a “use,” then the author’s statement of “The last time an aircraft carrier has been used in battle was in World War II” is a false one. That’s the crux of my statement.
