1st gear: the differences are enormous. The housing bubble was driven by fuckery in the financial system, and the current car market is purely a supply/demand situation. They are, as the meme goes, not the same.

I wish electric cars were offered with battery capacity options for the owner. If a car like this had say 3 banks of batteries that were reasonably easy to remove/replace by a mechanic, you could offer it to the public at different price points with the option of expanding or replacing capacity in the future.
