Or he wasn’t wearing a safety belt and his body was forced into an area it shouldn’t have.

Yeah, I think $3k is perfectly reasonable. Approaching $4k can get you much better cars.
I see your Beetle and raise you a Caterham 7
Used cars come with problems. I’ve bought twelve of them in my time and each one has come with at least one condition that needs attention, even if it’s very minor. Not one of those times have I expected the seller to outright fix the problem or guarantee that I won’t have future problems. It isn’t right for a seller…
Every used car ad should come with the language “sold as-is.” With a private seller there is never any expectation of warranty or guarantee. Still, this car is priced too high. I’m thinking he priced it at $3800 and expects to get $3000, where the car should have been advertised from the beginning.
They were an upstart 45 years ago.
I would say that with the collisions he had, and the fact that the car rolled over off of the road, and he came away with his life is a testament to the car’s safety factor.
Across a 50 foot median, into a tree, across a couple more lanes, and off the road? With no time to react? Come on man.
Or that he didn’t kill anyone else in a head-on.
I read it more as: had recent back surgery and blacked out (or od’d) on opiates. It would align more with his history.
I’m sure some of it was because of his race. I also believe on a larger scale that the things he did, while not so much more egregious than others, were 180° from his accepted persona.
Yeah, it’s still hard to stomach how those people got off so light, and are still celebrated today.
Right, because that would be wrong. He should feel guilty.
I’m also a sucker for anything with t-tops
I hear you. I used to have a steadfast rule of no food in the car whatsoever. After I had a child I had to reconsider my stance. There are too many times where we are in a crunch for time and have to eat in the car. I still have rules for condiment use in the car, and so far no stray sauces have gotten on any…
Not only is almost every surface a shiny fingerprint magnet, there doesn’t even seem to be a functional center armrest. Couples with the high-glare gauge cluster, this entire interior is a complete clusterfuck.
People love the 80's digital dashes now. But 100% on-point with the gauge cluster. It was the first thing I noticed. If they can’t even get the glare out for press photos, this is going to be a disaster to drive. Not only irritating, but downright dangerous. I can’t believe a company with as much prestige as MB would…
We should rename the heckblende the Jaytor.
Even with restoration or flipping out of the equation, it seems a pretty tall ask to just make it roadworthy again. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll follow this story with anticipation and enthusiasm, It just blows my mind that anyone would attempt this. I’ll take your word for the rest of it.
I’m aware of stitch-welding. It’s just that when there’s more rust than there is useable metal, it’s really not a salvageable situation. I applaud David’s enthusiasm and aplomb, I just don’t see anything justifiably worth saving here.
