Right, either you didn't read my post or you didn't understand it. Gun crime went up by 40% in the two years following the handgun ban. If you think people magically respond to handgun bans by committing crimes with their guns, you're wrong. Those guns were mostly already illegal before the tightening of the handgun

There is no history of terrorists doing any such thing in these circumstances, and no future. Terrorists are not going to infiltrate an environmental protest at the offices of an energy company in order to sneak in a banner containing a deadly material and scatter it over the crowd.

I'm not suggesting doing nothing, I'm just suggesting sensible actions that reflect what the police are supposed to do - protect the public. This is so transparently about protecting a business interest. This theatrical gesture with the hazmat suits is just silly, and at worst it could cause panic and inflame the

Well, it's a bit more than that. He wasn't violent, but he was obviously acting oddly and had been verbally aggressive to passers-by. However, he obviously needs mental health treatment, and police ought to be perfectly capable of dealing with that situation without bullets flying (and without tasers either).

That's a normal reaction, I think. You either find them curious because you recognise how much you ought to be repelled, or you're simply repelled. Modern anatomical drawings brighten up the colours and almost make a cartoon of the body, somewhere between the human form and a subway map, and even the most staring of

Really? I don't think terrorists would distribute a cloud of anthrax or whatever over themselves and their protesting compatriots just to make a few rank and file employees sick. Neither do the FBI. This is a cynical misuse of power that could have been over and settled within minutes or hours in other countries. This

He did Deadly Premonition in 24 hours. DS1 took more like 70 hours to fix. But yes, the point still stands. I'm not sure I really trust someone who says they knew exactly what to do but didn't have time, given that Durante's story is known to thousands (maybe millions) of people. Miyazoe doesn't appear to know enough

It could have been so much worse... throwing open the windows to a world of guts"... "raising the curtain at the Meaty Theatre"...

Ha ha! I'm sorry. It's not easy to find a way of describing this that isn't horrifying, come to think of it.

A lot of anatomical art used to feature weirdly calm and even cheerful-looking models, helpfully holding open their own skin:

I've posted this BBC documentary a couple of times, so I apologise if anyone is sick of seeing it. The title isn't helpful, but hey, baby steps. The programme makes a great argument for ensuring that trans women in particular get access to the health care they need before puberty, and why a society that wants you to

Eh? That's against our laws, surely. Was this a faith school with its own server or something?

Are you in the UK? This hasn't happened to me yet for Jezebel, but it has for other non-porn sites that include NSFW content. I'm with Giff Gaff, and had to unlock adult content via their website control panel.

Very true. Plus, I'd like to add for the benefit of non-UK people reading this article - his party did not win the election. The guy wanders about selling off parts of the NHS and attempting to sell our national forests as if he did win, but he failed to win an election against one of the weakest opponents he could

Thanks for your post. I totally understand it's more complex than the polarised internet debates can make it seem. I've spent a lot of time in the States, and nearly moved there more permanently, so I've seen the landscape. I do understand that there are many people whose nearest neighbour is many miles away, who

You'd be more upset about the friend's demise. Imagine how terrible you'd feel about not doing anything to prevent such an incredibly slow death. Sure, your friend swore by a "live sluggishly, die young" motto, but you wouldn't be able to help feeling that maybe you could have pulled him out of there if you'd just

Funny thing is, that's utter bullshit. The same gun control people in the USA like to quote that bit of nonsense without qualification, followed by "... and the same thing happened in the UK". It's bunk, and here's why.

It's almost as if it's not really a test at all, but a satirical point about 21st century marketing. So I'm not getting accreditation for this?

That's just an American convention. It's not the same for everybody. In the UK, we'll add the comma in cases where it is vital (such as the "strippers, Hitler, and Roosevelt" example in another comment), but most of the time we are encouraged to avoid excessive use of commas.
