I don't think I understand - when I hit "L", it does go to the first file of the Ls, and if I hit keys in quick succession it becomes more precise (i.e. L-I-T would get me straight to all the files that begin with that string). That's a really useful function that I can't imagine doing without, let alone wanting to

You don't have to use Metro view for the Control Panel. Hover in top right, Settings, Control Panel gets you there in two clicks while staying in Desktop view. Windows key + D toggles Desktop/Start, and if you spend a couple of minutes setting up Start the way you want it then it's actually better than the old Start

By the time there are things for it you really want to buy, these factors will be fixed. The only reason to buy these boxes now is to stop feeling the slight discomfort of knowing they exist in someone else's house.

What do you mean? Nobody with a desktop or laptop PC is forced to use the Metro view. You set it to startup on desktop view, and it does. It's the best Windows yet, and you get various performance gains, also DX11.2 in Win8.1.

It's the Metro interface as it should be, and much more ambitious and fast than any iteration of Win 8 so far. Maybe it's more attractive to me because I also use Windows Phone, but right now I think the XO interface is the clear winner.

Nah. Maybe if they drink too much or something, but they generally won't, and we're not talking about lasting damage anyway. It's not what they're supposed to be eating, but they eat tons of things that aren't natural for them: tuna, beef, lamb, salmon, prawns, cereals in their dry foods. Cats and chickens should

I wonder how many sales of Dark Souls and Deadly Premonition are purely down to him - that is, how many sales only happened because his patches exist? Someone ought to cut him a cheque or something!

I'm just surprised they actually have to catch the stuff! I'd assumed it would be the kind of thing where they start with the object in hand, it's whipped off them with wires, and then the film is reversed. Or in this case, CGI, given the amount of that they were throwing around already.

I thought that was an eight-limbed puppy at first. Spiderpuppy was still cute though.

Not a haircut! You are literally bodysnarking right now. Luckily, that cat can't read.

It's not sheared, that's just how Devon Rexes tend to look (very short, curly, soft hair, bald at the neck).

Ariana Grande, I think.

I wish I could find it in the original HD, because this low res copy really doesn't do justice to John Joseph Merlin's swan.

Ha! I just meant on that one point of "is it a computer?", of course. He's a great historian. I knew his mum - she was a great politician and presence in the community.

A peticure, of course!

Now playing

I hate to give a "meh" reaction to something so pretty and well made, but ultimately it is a pale imitation of older, much more impressive work. European technology was vastly superior in the field of automata.

1440p means 1440 pixels vertically, not horizontally! And they're doing three 1440p displays at once, so that's 7680x1440 :)

Giant multiple displays. They're talking about running three 2560x1440 displays at once, and potentially even more as they develop and rebuild parts of the system. I expect the goal is three 4k displays.

They're actually talking about it happily running Battlefield 4 at 7680x1440. This thing is ridiculous.
