The Las Vegas Hilton (now the Westgate Casino) isn’t even on the strip. The Star Trek Experience was pretty much the reason people went there (off-strip casinos really have to have a good gimmick to get people inside). It’s a shame they shut it down.

I had always heard that most music labels, movie studios, etc stored their master recordings in a bunch of secure sites in some former salt mines in Kansas or something. 

Social media platforms are not public spaces; they are privately owned spaces, and there are no first amendment guarantees there. It’s like if you were spouting off offensive garbage in a shopping mall courtyard - the mall’s owner would be perfectly within it’s rights to throw you off it’s private property.

I’ve been reading io9 for a very long time & every single time I read one of these kind of deep-dives into geeky esoterica, even though I would never be able to consume all that source material myself, I’m just delighted by the people who write here. 

After cleaning mine, rather than drying it by hand, I just stick it back on the range for a minute and evaporate the moisture. I hope that’s not bad.
