Jay Z is a pretentious dickhead regardless of his color.

Inside Kara Brown's head as she wrote this: "I have to write a blog post about a Youtube video of a celebrity, but I'm above that, so I'll make an allusion to Albert Camus in the lede."

The tourist is Spanish. At least, the video he uploaded has a Spanish title and description.

Encouraging readers to point out that a random woman is not as hot as she thinks is, if not misogynistic, some kind of fucked up.

That meta-commentary was only to give the writer cover for ripping off a Daily Mail article and following its lead to encourage readers to body snark this woman.

Totally. Shrayber makes fun of this woman while ostensibly asking "why did the Daily Mail make this a news story?" Uh, because they wanted people to see her and say "you're not too hot for anything, you tart," which is the same thing he just encouraged readers to do, except Shrayber's story doesn't even have any

I was just thinking "this shit's going to be in a cutaway box of a circa 2200 history book in the article explaining why the middle class slaughtered the one-percent en masse in the mid 21st century."

Maybe it's you. "You look great" sounds like the typical comment runners shout at each other in encouragement at a marathon-like event ("looking strong, keep up the good work"). And it's easily a comment on your form, as in you're doing the exercise well rather than sloppily.

I don't think this is only a white boy thing. I have been huffypuffied when a black dude did not hear me say thank you when he held the ATM door for me (without even my tacit request at all). I am a white boy. The situation was defused when a woman testified that I did, in fact, say thank you.

Well, on the flipside, I know someone who married a woman who approached him on the subway. So I suppose they now exist outside polite society.

Fair point, but one of my friends is now married to a woman who approached him on the subway and asked him out. And he's hardly the only person who I know who has dated someone they met on the subway (he's just the most successful). So saying "leave strangers alone" is obviously not good advice for all situations.

Despite what many people think, there is no parole in the federal system. It has been abolished (state systems are different). The only way to get a shorter sentence in the federal system is time off for good behavior, and that can amount to I think about 1/10 of the sentence.

Hard to predict. I don't think Duggar-likes believe that homosexuality is a heritable trait / congenital.

I am always surprised when ardent pro-choice people recoil with horror on this way of thinking. If you think a fetus is a human life, then killing them is like murder. Mind you, there are a lot of good reasons not to think that, but if that's your sincerely held belief then this kind of comparison makes sense.

I agree totally, I just noticed some people saying that free speech has consequences as if jail was normally one of them.

"Free speech" is the freedom from legal consequences for protected speech. It wouldn't do much good to say, "sure, you're free to criticize the president, as long as you're willing to do five years in prison."

Vomitorium is the Latin word for 'mass exit.'

2/1 is also a fraction...

Agreed. I've never understood fanboys (either Apple or Android fanboys). Why do you want to get in a 20-minute argument with a friend about what phone he uses? And if you're willing to argue about that, why don't you argue about why he likes tea over coffee, or Coke over Pepsi?
