It was a gorgeous stinker imo.

I think this show is just as ground breaking as any other HBO shows from the era. I think people that dismiss it because it’s “silly” or “frivolous” see women as “silly” or “frivolous”. The show is just a big ol gay men from that eras fantasy of women in NYC, and ok Happy Pride to those girls.
Season Two especially, I even found myself blushing at the Mr. Pussy episode with Charlotte on a recent rewatch. For a show 25 years ago, I don’t think anything has come close to exploring dating and fucking.
dang I usually think hari nef gives some pretty thoughtful takes. girly think she owes this creep something.
in recovery myself, there are lots of ways to do recovery(and programs) outside of just AA. would enjoy a story that explores something outside of the cliche.
I had no idea it was a two parter, and there was a lot of screaming at the screen in my theatre by randoms lol, which made it a memorable viewing at least.
I agree, I think where the movie worked best was the moments of heart. The scenes with Miles’ mom were especially emotional. I found some of the action scenes a little too long, but I’m sure it’s hard to cut those things once they’ve been beautifully animated.
Be nice to see a comedy tackle recovery with a little more complexity, which I feel Mulaney could pull off if this idea was ever revisited.
I think Padma might be one of the more likeable personalities on television right now (and actually has an opinion), so I’m sad to see her leave Top Chef, but can very well see her become even more of a household name.
Just finished rewatching the OG SATC, and yes some things are dated, but it’s still so fucking good. I love those assholes.
I think SJP has been producer since Season 2, so I feel things must have been tense for much of the shows run (a fantastic run all the same).
u really out here gate keeping mermaids being white?
I work corporate law, and idk, Shiv seems just as competent as any CEO I’ve met. It’s just a culture of power hungry people, any of the kids would be fine because the industry is designed to benefit people like them. It’s less a critique of them, and more the actual system imo.
I saw the movie and McCarthy is more or less just CGI. Sure the actual makeup needed to be minimal.
Shiv perfectly captures white feminism, she both is disadvantaged and benefits from the patriarchy by aligning herself to its values. There was, especially this season, a dismissal of Shiv that was rooted in her gender almost every episode. If you missed that, that’s your own blinders.
I think looking for redemption is such a Hollywood plot device that doesn’t hold up to actual people in the real world, and the show challenges that. Sally obviously learned enough to know she had to leave Barry to break the cycle, and it seemed she accepted a quieter kind of validation from her art.
The third season is one of the best of any television show imo, some truly scathing critiques of Hollywood, which keeps us indoctrinated into finding quick answers for lifelong traumas, and the violence that erupts from those suppressed traumas.
have u even watched this show?
that’s a fair take, I respect it.
they empty, but it’s the first time we’ve seen them able to take a step in another direction then chasing the succession. it’s as “happy” as an ending as I think they’ll ever have.
