Shiv is really our only perspective that isn’t a man, what she experienced from the men around her we can safely assume the other women have to. especially with the pregnancy. I don’t know how anyone could watch this show and deny that Shiv can be all these terrible things, but she also was shut out repeatedly because

He literally got rid of Shiv because he wanted to fuck her. Shiv may be all the other things you say, but misogyny as a theme and something she literally had to navigate in every interaction was massive to this season. And points to how these hierarchies establish themselves from the top and filter down.

Yah, I felt that was the only thing that felt inconsistent with Shiv. Someone of her means does not have to concern herself with the worry that this “might be her only chance” to have a child.

Her and Tom make so much sense imo. Nobody would have thought they had a weird dynamic if she was a man lol. She’s allowed to be the dominant one in the relationship who clearly enjoys the masochism of Tom continuously crawling back to her, no matter how hard she kicks him.

Agreed, Tom proved how docile he was when Mattson talked about fucking Shiv.

Shiv took the sword by accepting her role as Tom’s wife. I don’t think it would have made sense for her to plot his takeover narratively. her ending felt the most complex by both ending the succession but also falling into the gendered role she’s been constantly battling against (even bad women still gotta deal with

Made sense that the very thing Shiv has been accused of (overly emotional, hysterical, etc.), is the very thing she leans into to make an emotionally mature decision to end this cycle of abuse. I’m sure her and Roman will always be horrible, but they can be horrible in a way that is empowering to them lol. It ain’t a

The cycle finally ended, and it felt very cathartic. Shiv may still get a throne, but she has to take a regressive step back into the role the men around of her assume, the last thing she wanted. This was not a power play, it really did feel like Shiv and Roman were finally stepping out of the codependence.

I gotta say the underwater scenes looked 100x better than the Wakanda Forever water scenes.

These are all amazing chefs, but I feel at this point Buddha is operating on a whole other level as much as they try and edit in a struggle.

I think the show does a wonderful job of making Sally a selfish person, but one still worthy of compassion. Maybe her happy ending is just the audience continuing to extend her some unconditional humanity (ultimately it’s what Barry gives her, despite the trauma that comes with it).

most interesting thing Marvel did narratively was examine Hollywood narratives with Wandavision, only to totally undo all that clever work with Dr. Strange lol

this movie was snoozy. no insight, and sorry to the directors story about being bald, but it had no reason to be forced into this film.

There’s lots of good people like Jess in bad companies. The reality is that her gaining some major network and business skills and then moving into a role that has a better world impact is usually a lot more useful than people who immediately join the non-profit sector. Until it all crumbles, sometimes you have to

exactly, the level of misogyny is unreal. Is Shiv a good person? No. Is she being held to a different standard than her other siblings simply because of her gender? Yes.

100% agreed on SATC, might even put it as top 5 out there.

idk I think Season 3 is both the best of this show, and the best of recent television. It had some of the more complex examinations of violence and how Hollywood always tries to provide tidy narratives to truly dehumanizing experiences.

I think Season 3 was some of the best television in recent years. A little sad this isn’t quite the same quality due to it having to jam so much into so little time.

yah I never throw shade at child stars, no matter the level of success into adulthood. I think unless you experienced it, the impacts of fame on your psyche while you are kid is something that can’t really be understood by us non-famous folk.

SATC finale still holds up as one of the best!
