And the frustrating thing is that the NFL did this to themselves. If they just said, “we’re a sports league, we will leave all legal and behavioral matters to the proper authorities, we will only deal with football-related issues,” then I wouldn’t have any problem with it. Because there are bad people everywhere, not…
“He’s going to kill me, and he’s going to get away with it, because he’s O.J. Simpson.” -Nicole Brown Simpson
It’s obviously the party line for Hardy’s bros: he pays for drinks and attracts pretty girls; they cover for him. And whenever a football player gets accused of something horrific, wannabe-bros on message boards do the same thing and bring up the entourages’ statements to discredit the victim.
But if the photos aren’t publicized, then the people who support this asshole can pretend that what he did wasn’t so bad - or that she was lying - and can continue to ignore what he did.
“Smear”? A smear is when you try to damage someone’s reputation by FALSE accusations. You think he really didn’t hurt her? Jesus Christ.
So you don’t five a fuck that this woman was brutally beaten and the guy that did it is being paid 11 million+ dollars and being lauded by his employer for being an ‘outstanding team leader’, and yet you’re outraged that the public should learn concrete details about what he did that night. Ok.
The Marjaree Mason Center in Fresno, CA is a truly fantastic organization. I’ve had the chance to speak with some of the people there and they do amazing work. They not only offer safe housing and crisis support but counseling and really work to help domestic abuse victims get back on their feet.
Jerry likely knew/saw all this already. Does not care.
In light of the topic of this article, here are some resources for anyone who needs help:
I get revictimizing the victim...she was paid to be quiet. Perhaps she feels some vindication that this story is coming to light without having to endure the nightmare of a trial? While horrifying to read on deadspin, I would hope this encourages more victims to come forward and take a stand.
Tim Marchman did apologize and talk to Mandi after the fact, for the record. I am just surprised to seemingly see the mistake repeated. Perhaps I’m misunderstanding how the stories are different?
Preach! Even the victim tried to gaslight the witness (“that girl is crazy”), but thank glob for that witness who insisted upon telling the story to the cops on the scene so that it’d be documented.
Thank you for doing this. I hate to look at these images, but people seem to forget that this is what it looks like when a man beats up a person less than half their size.
It’s crazy because while I know this will make (likely a positive) difference, I’m sad that it’s necessary. I’m sad that it took video of Ray Rice…
This crap is why I’m done with the NFL. Haven’t watched a game in two years and doubt I ever will again. A sick institution.

Yep. These pics change things. If Jerry doesn't act, the Red King will.
The announcers before the last Cowboys game, talking about the Hardy sideline incident, said “this is what you get when you hire a star. A lot of passion and a lot of baggage.”
This is beyond horrifying.
Fucking savage.
