Exactly. Tell me you weren’t born yet in 1982 without telling me you weren’t born yet in 1982.

Also:
The soundtrack absolutely slaps if you have a decent home theater.
I’m very, very glad you included Time and Punishment, since it was a truly inexplicable omission from AVClub’s list that was pretty much universally agreed to in the comments as a massive mistake. Just by itself, “it’s raining again” is probably one of the show’s top 25 lines, maybe even top 10.
Nightmare Cafeteria legit scared me when I was a kid. Specifically, the scene with the giant blender that Milhouse falls into.
Scrubs may have had the best ending to a comedy I watched since the start (over cheers) until they said “hmmm lets ruin it with a season 9!” Damn ABC!
For me, Scrubs is the greatest series finale ever. (Obviously this assumes ignoring season 9, which should be the default position.)
My first thought was, Where’s The Shield?!
1.Scrubs had a pretty perfect finale, but then cast it aside by going back to the well for an extra year. Bummer.
I rewatched it with my wife a couple years ago, it was her first time seeing it. It’s still excellent, but really does have some dodgy moments. I think it’s still worth a watch if people can handle its flaws.
I came here to say this. The Shield is the best finale to me ever and the AV club writers are just dog shit at this point.
Yes, to omit that finale makes this list completely invalid.
That I absolutely agree on. I certainly never hated the show. I think I just found the constant misery to be exhausting, as well as Vic always escaping any issues, give or take a few allies dying or turning against him. The constant shaky camera stuff certainly doesn’t help, as well as the unrelenting bleakness to…
I’ll be honest and say I never really loved The Shield. Or even consistently liked it. This is far more a me problem than anything. But that finale was utterly sensational. Absolutely hauntingly perfect on every level. Trapping Vic in a bureaucratic hell was pretty damn genius. A way to let Vic seemingly win (however…
The Shield is the best finale of all time and of course not on the list
Ok, I know there are people who, absurdly in my opinion, believe that The Shield is only the second or third best finale of all time, so I was ready to see it dissed with a mere top three finish. But to omit it entirely... I have no words. You people have lost touch with reality.
First game that really blew me away as far as graphics go was Shadow of the Beast on a Commodore Amiga. Parallax scrolling for the win!
I actually think people are less arbitrarily snobbish about music than they once were. At least in the 90s there were very specific cultural camps signified by music. If you liked Alice In Chains, you automatically distained Whitney Houston. If someone said they liked all kinds of music, you had to do a little check…
The first game to blow me away graphically was Wing Commander (1990). So far ahead of other games at the time and had great music and cut scenes. Got me into PC gaming.
The big disappointment of the season for me is the under-utilisation of the magnificent Katy Wix.
