Thanks for this. Frustrated with all the anti-Conor takes and also some of the “Fuck Dana White!” takes, though I do agree with their sentiment.

No matter what, it is meant to be condescending and degrading.

I once heard it phrased,

What would you suggest to remedy McGregors assertion that one small contractual obligation prevents him from fulfilling his greater contractual obligation, which is reporting to the octagon on fight night the absolute best fighter than he can be? He claims he offered to defer PR obligations and the UFC refused. Should

Only Joey Ryan is the king of Dong Style

It’s not 8 hours, 5 days a week, but the training for months can be insane compared to an office worker, tradesman, or even a physical laborer

*Sigh* Most of what you say makes sense. But you’re yet another who decided to rant off my rant while ignoring conversations where we’ve covered much of this ground.

Your a boot licking yes man aren’t you.

The only reason half the poeple watched their last fight was Conor. The casual fan doesn’t tune in to see some people fight they’ve never heard of before.

Are you really going to go out and buy this fight because you saw a 10 second clip of Connor talking shit on Espn. The people who are going to buy the fight just need a simple reminder of the date. All this drama was probably 100 times more effective at promoting the fight than some bullshit presser.

Your an idiot, yeah the douche bag who under pays his fighters forces them into sponsorship agreements is a necessary evil. If the top talent left the UFC would collapse in under a year.

No but Conor and the other top guys should leave and start their own promotion they would make easily 3 to 5 x what they do now. The purses for even the top fights are only a few million and the low guys might be 10s of thousands. That’s dog shit.

Conor should retire from the UFC and back another organization, if he and the handful of the top talent leave UFC it would die in a heart beat. Some one needs to end the monopoly if these want to get paid boxing money.

1 wierd thing to add is that, at least in the ‘hardcore’ MMA community, we are pretty “meh” to the McGregor-Diaz rematch. There aren’t many great reasons besides “hey, alot of people watched the first one” to make the fight and SO many other good alternatives.

That’s accurate. He’s a very good fighter, but he’s the best self-promoter.

To all the nonlawyers yelling CONTRACT! CONTRACT!

Not above it, just doing it differently this go ‘round. Instead of the standard, “I’m gonna fuck him up, then fuck his girl.” It’s going to be more like “I beat him so bad last time he retired, and then Dana made him unretire.” Meanwhile, Connor will play it quiet and let Nate talk up his win in the last fight. His

Wait, isn’t the only reason that he’s quite so successful professional precisely that he’s a major draw? My impression (not too much of a UFC fan) is that this dude’s legendary mouth outpaces his (admittedly considerable) skill in the ring and, on pure talent, he’s not the biggest star they have.

What we learned from the deadspin comments section today:
- former plumber’s apprentice-turned face pounding super star did not go to college for gender studies
- some people think Conor is overrated because he lost recently
- many Deadspin commenters feel deep religious devotion towards legal contracts

Great Kinja, gang

You see all the money Mayweather, Pacquiao and Canelo bring in I am surprised the UFC fighters put up with White. They are getting shafted while the UFC makes bank.
