A sub-litre, turbo putting out 89bhp? Most likely. What I hate to admit about small turbo or high compression engines is that they can age terribly after 8 or 10 years. Look at the TDIs in europe mainly.

As far as I know, upfront the car is a 2.0l Atkinson attached to a CVT and beefy electric motor - a parallel system. The rear wheels are powered by a similarly sized motor that makes the car a series-parallel and though-the-road hybrid like PSA’s DS5 and 3008 Hybrid 4.

Sure, just take an silencer or muffler off a Prius, maybe cut the exhaust a bit shorter and it’ll sound like that.
