As far as I know, upfront the car is a 2.0l Atkinson attached to a CVT and beefy electric motor - a parallel system. The rear wheels are powered by a similarly sized motor that makes the car a series-parallel and though-the-road hybrid like PSA’s DS5 and 3008 Hybrid 4.
I haven’t the slightest notion how they’re going…
It’s weird that you guys aren’t getting the hybrid drivetrain like we do in Europe. Think it’s from the 09 - 15 Prius to save cost.
Methinks there might’ve been a worry regarding the C-HR cannabilisig Prius sales.
Then how’s its reliability and cost of sevice?
Drive down to Kerry or Mayo and you’ll find it’s not a one off thing. I’ve seen sheep in a Mazda 121/Ford Fiesta and a cow in a 96 Corrolla when I drive far enough from civilisation!
A lovely read. Thanks for sharing this!
So how would a V4 sound any different than an I4, if displacement, valves and exhaust design are all the same?
Sure, just take an silencer or muffler off a Prius, maybe cut the exhaust a bit shorter and it’ll sound like that.
haha, yeah. That’s the reality of it. Following jehu for a few years now, all (except the cruisers) of them are EVs including the Smart, I could tell you that the 21 window T2 was originally a standard van but the dude with the camera (Jehu) spent the last 5 years converting it to an EV and cutting out windows for it…
All electric or yet to be EVs. Muhahahaha!
Damn straight!! Uninerupted torque (amps). Even a Prius has impressive pull going up an incline. There’s a short but ~20% incline in a small valley near where I live, I’ve floored LEAFs and Priuses up it and they’re immediately responsive and feel more worth their weight. I’ve driven a 2011 2.2l diesel, manual Mazda 6…
Is this another trailer for Cars 3?
Mike D F is bang on. Can’t add anything to what he put out.

Motorweek has a few videos for their Clean Cities segment on their main YT channel as well.
You reconditioned a HV pack using rechargers for RC cars, toys... And can potentially make money out of it. Man, is there anything unastounding you did recently? When I quizzed if you had a charger, I thought you got it from this guy. That there was like using a bycicle repair kit to fix a totalled car!
Jesus, 8 bad modules? 8 Bricks?! I never heard of so many going off. I hope you don’t mind me asking where the car is from (that would hint to yearly max/min temperatures) and if the battery cooling fan was clogged. Always helps to learn how to prevent battery failure. And fair play for replacing those modules.…
Nice! I tried to say something about an ‘04 or ‘05 Prius being a good fit. It’s lost somewhere in the comments...
What did you spend the $600 on? Was it a battery balancing kit.
What’s also kinda angering me with jealousy is that my ‘07 with the same amount of miles was €5400 in 2014, and that was the cheapest onefor…
Now hear me out. ... JESUS FCKIN CHRIST PUT That Knife Away! ...
Before you put holes into me or my idea, look up battery balancing. There’s a guy who’s been selling small chargers and dischargers that have brought life back to Toyota HV batteries to reanimating quite honestly worse worn and worse engineered Honda IMA…
Batteries when cold tend to create internal resistance within the cells which just wastes them as heat. In the mornings, charging to 100% (or at least over 85%) is also recommended as the pack would be warmed up to operating temperature (~15C celcius).
Best way to overcome inefficiency loss is with really gentle…
If they can’t understand the benefits of having your fleet turn all electric, especially under those conditions, then God help the souls and organisation your Board of Directors serve.
Haha, you’re pointing your finger the wrong way, of all the plug-ins you must be wary of, it’s that Fiat 500e.
The 2014s have the improved battery pack. Some 13s were, but be wary - there’s no distinguishing which ones had the new or old design underneath.
