There’s nothing wrong with that at all (though I’d argue that perhaps it does not make for the most dramatically interesting film). The movie is very much about how prayers implicitly saved this kid.

The material with the pastor played by Topher Grace is closer to being genuinely touching, because it really is about

Uh, excuse me, my Christian Cinema reviews have covered an enormous gamut of grades from D- to C-.

AMEN.

It’s weird that movies like First Reformed or Silence aren’t called “faith-based” when they approach faith with more care, insight, and nuance than any movies of Breakthrough’s ilk. I have no doubt the main reason for these reviews going up is because they get the clicks, but Jesse is at least trying to judge the

I realize this is Kinja and I understand the audience, but all the reviews of “faith-based” movies seem to follow a certain formula. Maybe to save everyone time, we can just change them to a bullet-point list:

Oh, is this finally coming out so I don’t have to see the previews for it anymore?

You know what, it’s not terrible.

Yeah. I mean, look at what sexual repression has done for all of those conservative culture warriors who crusade against LBGTQ+ and women’s rights in the name of purity who end up getting busted for soliciting gay prostitutes and sexual assault and so forth. I don’t think Sir Ian is saying that repression is fully to

Yeah, that’s what I took away from this, and you only have to cite the Catholic Church as another example of people being repressed and then performing abusive behavior. Not that every repressed person is going to resort to such behavior of course, but repression certainly doesn’t help the “herd” as a whole. Anyway,

Sounds like he was trying to make a broader point about repression leading to abusive behavior rather than the specific cases but okay let's drag him

lol I’m sure he’s very concerned about being dragged on Twitter.

Has nothing to do with NETFLIX, they intended to release all last may. It’s because Mitch is batshit crazy and took for ever to write and edit the show. He would disappear for months at time and barely was around when the show was shot and written.

To be fair, SNL and nearly every TV show announce the name of their guest stars (and sometimes their professions) or impersonations as though you are watching them on the radio. They especially do it during the celebrity gameshow segments...because sometimes the impressions aren’t very good so they have to prime you.

They don’t actually know what they want.  Most of the people who hate on SNL have ridiculous expectations.  It’s like Star Wars.  Nothing will ever be good enough but they’ll still be there, watching every show (movie).

I’m consistently perplexed as to what exactly the reviewer wants out of Weekend Update. Because it seems like they just want people to recap the dangerous situation the nation is in without all these goshdarned jokes to prevent everyone from grasping the gravity of the situation.

We can only hope that as with the lobster/Les Mis sketch (I have rewatched that one several times) Mulaney has old SNL sketches that never got produced or aired that he will bring to the table.

More like CUCKroach, amirite?

I’ve been in a room with John Landis and heard his own father refer to him as a sociopath. And John Landis is a fucking nut cake.

She showed up for maybe 3 days and did most of it, if not all of it on green screen. No one was really sure if she was going to show up a all. She didn’t want to do it, in fact I think most of the cast didn’t want to do it. It was a complete shit show.

I worked on this show. I posted here back in November about Jeffery and Mitch and their abusive behavior and how someone needs to do some digging on Arrested Development, especially the 2 Netflix seasons(4,5), which were particularly difficult and harmful on both cast and crew, like really difficult and harmful, even
