Actually you need bigger in TX, otherwise you get run over by the normal TX sized vehicles.

That moment when you realize that people who weren’t alive for the 1997 Tokyo motor show are old enough to buy alcohol now.

Now playing

Pretty sure this is what you’re referencing, but never a bad time to post it:

Were the fuck is the front of this vehicle?

I think everyone needs, at least once in their life, to have bad credit and be forced to buy a car at a buy-here-pay-here joint. This experience will make you understand far better than any number of articles what it’s like to pay far too much for a POS car with no recourse if things go wrong.

I figured something didn’t add up. The car should have seen an obstacle cross the road, dark or not. And it probably DID.

It’s not just cheap credit, but the length of the loan. I had a high school teacher that got a special long term loan for being a teacher that got him a better car for the same payment. It was a 4 year loan. I’ve seen 7 year loans on some cars and 5 is the norm.

There are cheap cars out there. A base Spark is only slightly more expensive than a Yugo would be in 2018 dollars, and is a vastly better car in pretty much every way.

The Dacia Sandero.

From LTT’s comment on a similar happening

Good chance the impellers broke when the rag hit, which means you have a bunch of small blades heading for the intake valves, which can jam up or make it through the valves. I’ve heard of turbo blade fragments making it all the way into the exhaust.

We’ve been arguing that for days here. I still call BS.

If autonomous cars in general can’t avoid a person in the dark, they should not be on the road today. Maybe it’ll turn out they are all a house of cards and should be pulled, but it seems more likely that Uber is a special case of incompetence.

I mean, a driverless car very much hit and killed a pedestrian. It’s not a question of “would a human driver be able to stop without killing the pedestrian in the same scenario?” either. Autonomous vehicles need to be better than human controlled vehicles, as many others have said.

1st/2nd Gear - ARGH. The woman stepped out in front of the car! How many human drivers would have been able to react that fast?

Agreed the investigation has yet to conclude, don’t draw conclusions yourself

Congratulations, Mr. As Long as There is Beer I’m There, on COTD! I would like to gift you with a Jeep which this lovely lady will deliver soon. Hallelujah!

As a prototype with custom self driving software, it’s entirely likely the Volvo HW/SW was disabled.
