That’s pretty awesome; and even more awesome when two drivers with relatively-powerful cars just show respect for each other and each other’s machines - rather than just book it at the green light.

I’ll be honest, if given the chance, I’d sell my soul for any Maserati. Except the crossover. Fuck that.
I’ve always loved this generation of the Quattroporte. So elegant, yet aggressive at the same time. If I had the moolah, I’d get one of these things and drive it every day, maintenance be dammed.
I was thinking to do the unequal-length headers on my 18 Outback with the 2.5, but from what I read that also reduces power. My Outback is already slow af, can’t afford to lose more power for just sound, lol.
The E39 truly is a jewel of a car. Super high maintenance, but definitely would have one myself if I could afford the upkeep. Amazing cars to drive, comfortable, and like you said, elegant. When I think BMW, my mind always goes back to the E39.
Wider is better, absolutely. The big gaping grille fad in car design lately is honestly one of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen. And we live in a world where Donks exist.
Very insightful, I actually appreciate the detailed response. It’s true these days, sadly; that news can’t always be trusted and personal bias makes its way into the story itself. It’s partly why this whole thing is so difficult to navigate.
Neutral: EVs can stick around for a long time as long as their development continues at the accelerated rate we’ve seen in the last two years. I personally am considering one in the near future as a result.
Awesome!! I gotta see it! Love when he features more obscure cars like this. I still want to someday go see the original M4S in the Chrysler museum in Detroit...
COTD.
Agreed, drivers don’t need to fucking die for the crowd to be entertained, fuck that nonsense. By that logic, the public LOVED racing nearly a century ago because almost half the drivers perished in spectacular fireballs; and even took out some of the crowds with them!
Fucking love this car. So underrated and mostly forgotten. I even love the movie, despite its 80s cheesiness and lame one-liners.
I was gonna put my Outback, but I put a 1970s barge like the Continental Mark III instead. NOT practical at all, but fuck it, if I go, I go in style.
This stuff is good to know; seriously; I am considering within the next 5 - 10 years to get an electric, simply because, while I’m a fan of big gas-guzzling V8's, I don’t need the gasoline hassle in my daily commute, nor does the world need my CO2 pollution either.
Hmm, interesting!
The growing question in my mind is what happens to those batteries in these electric vehicles in say, 10+ years? It’s not like you can just swap them out, because the batteries are all coated on top of the frame underneath. We all know batteries don’t last and they lose their efficiency over time, so is there a…
I’m starting to think that car designers feel they just don’t need to try with good, clean design anymore. Throw some random swoops and curves and voila. This... it just looks, well, comical. Those swooping tail lights and a Kia-like grille... and then the rest of the front! Holy shit, so many shapes all crammed on…
This is part of the reason why most modern car design sucks ass. So many shapes and grilles and intakes makes the whole thing look like smashed shit.
I was literally just gonna ask, “is it just me or are BMW’s kidney grilles coming dangerously close to looking like Kia’s?”
