The 100 focuses on romance? How much of the show have you even seen? That was true in the early seasons but the later ones barely focus on romantic subplots.

I don’t understand what this has to do with the SyFy network or 90210? Tween-targeted sci-fi adventure stories that feature plucky girl leads and romantic subplots have been a (very popular) thing for awhile now. It may not be your cup of tea but I think there’s enough room for art that speaks to different audiences…
