"No, they don't. They are a moderately successful independent developer. They ain't rolling in dough."

Again, my concern is more a point of precedent than a complaint about Double Fine's use of it in this case. My biggest concern is that using crowdfunding allows a developer to finance their own passion project AND receive all of the revenue from the project with little financial risk.
So I've been meaning to discuss this somewhere. I get that Kickstarter may seem appealing to the masses as a way of supporting an art form or medium that wouldn't otherwise get a chance to see the light of day. In that way, it's a great way for people to financially support a passion project or help a new or unknown…
It really depends. I follow voice acting for television, video games, commercials, and film pretty closely (I was an aspiring actor years ago), and it really depends on how much dialogue needs to be recorded, the need for comedic timing, etc. Most traditional animation (read: Regular Show, Adventure Time, Fairly…
There's a fundamental mistrust most people have for bureaucracy that is hilariously misguided. For example, people love to hate the FCC for its occasionally misguided censoring, yet fail to consider how legally difficult it is to create rules and adjudicate claims that follow a narrow and clear path for the average…
I love Inherent Vice and most of the other Pynchon works I've read are on the scale of very good to excellent. I bought Bleeding Edge a few weeks ago, so I might start in on that, or some old Raymond Chandler novels I got in a garage sale a few years back.
I've got to play through some games now, because I start a new job in about 10 days (hooray for work). So, there's DmC: Devil May Cry, Gravity Rush, or Sleeping Dogs all available to play, but I'm not sure which I'll end up going with. This is always the time of year where I feel a bit burnt out on games, so I might…
Yeah, I finished the Hard playthrough of Guacamelee a few months ago. It definitely was one of the more frustrating challenges I've put myself through in a few years, but some of the DLC suits (in particular, the El Diablo's suit) make it a bit easier.
The level of vitriol of gamers on the internet has risen to an untenable level. It's gotten to the point where developers are becoming unwilling and unmotivated to create new projects, for fear of the inevitable verbal sparring they will have to engage in with the ostensible "fan base." It's sad, and it's leading to…
My bet is on the reboot of Thief. The series hasn't seen an entry in about a decade, and it'll be interesting to see how the preeminent stealth series adapts its mechanics for the modern age of video games. I think the team at Eidos Montreal can pull it off, and I'm definitely excited to play it. I just wonder how…
I'd like to see a male love interest in any fiction with a female protagonist to be more than either an audience cypher or a vapid pretty boy. It's nice to see well-rounded characters in all aspects of writing, especially when there's supposed to be a believable romantic connection between two of them.
Finding them won't be much of a problem, but actually trading for them on GTS will be a pain, since people usually ask for the stupidest, most unfair trades possible.
That, or a battle mode with a similar limitation on the total IV spread of a team, which would certainly make for a more free-for-all mode.
It does force you to rely a lot more on combo strings and less on the dodge-attack-dodge gameplay, but yeah, it's not quite the incentive for a second playthrough.
Yeah, Noivern is Flamethrower, Boomburst, Dragon Pulse, and Tailwind (in case there's a chance to use it), which has been pretty effective setting up a sweeper Aegislash.
Yeah, I just wish you could specify ahead of time the limits on Pokemon eligibility for matches you want to play. Smogon at least forces you to try new strategies for each tier, as well as the different combinations of Pokemon that could work. I feel far too many people I've matched against simply use the same…
Well so far I've got a perfect EV/IV Noivern, Dragonite, Shiny Lapras, and Greninja (Protean and Torrent ability), so I'm thinking of working on a Ghastly or Shuppet next, to see how well a Mega Gengar or Mega Banette turns out. I just kinda lost my desire for a while, so I took about a month off before coming back…
You might. I have a pretty basic AT&T package that gets 7 mbps, so just check one of the online speed tests.
It's actually not too bad, though some of the late game portions are frustrating in Hard Mode. Some of the DLC costumes make it a bit easier (or harder), so definitely consider getting the "Diablo's Domain" DLC (it also has a series of challenge rooms that are a lot of fun, and incorporate a lot of the games' better…
I really think the PokeBank app broke the whole online battling experience (again), since we are seeing obviously hacked Pokemon back in the scene.
