I’m no expert metrologist, but what the heck is a gallon of electricity?

Two can play at that game - start adding up all of the hidden costs of burning fossil fuels: lung cancer deaths, work missed due to respiratory system problems caused by pollution from ICE engines, pollution from broken oil pipelines, pollution from oil rig disasters, the cost to taxpayers of cleanups of those messes,…
Either he really is that dense... or he’s an oil industry shill for one reason or another.
And that’s the problem. When oil supply worldwide goes down, it drives up oil prices, given the US supply does not live in a vacuum. The only long term fix is to reduce the reliance on it. While oil is used in a ton of industries, the most noticeable direct impact has always been in using to fuel personal vehicles.
“The Texas Public Policy Foundation, a conservative organization funded at least in part by Chevron and ExxonMobil, recently published a paper condemning the production and purchase of electric vehicles on the basis that they’re socialist nightmare garbage or whatever.”
You really are that dense?
Fair enough.
EVs are not perfect but they are a big step in the right direction towards addressing climate change by reducing overall CO2 output. Transportation is a small part of the pie but that isn’t a valid excuse to do nothing.
Every dumb nut brings up subsidies when it comes to electric cars and renewable “green” power. Of course, either they do not actually realize soo many aspects of our lives have subsidies, like oil/gas industry, food, farming or they think everyone is just as clueless as them.
I’m not trying to make Texas look good, I’m just saying you can’t lump all Texans together.
Yeah, it’s particularly amusing that they had to say something about subsidies.
Claim: after accounting for direct and indirect subsidies, including various government subsidies, the “True Cost” to fuel an EV on a per-gallon-equivalent basis is $17.33.
THIS.
Sex work is a perfectly acceptable profession (so long as a person gets to willingly choose it and have control of their clientele). The authors of that paper are just greedy assholes who find it easier to lie to the public than adjust how they make money.
The entire raison d’etre for this paper is to dream shit up, claim they’ve been “published”, and thus allow straight-faced Fox News folks to say shit like, “this scientific, published paper PROVES oil > wind blah blah”.
It’s the other way around - the people in power fund this kind of “research” so to create narratives that get the common folk against any kind of change for the better.
If I ever get to the point that I need to prostitute myself (i.e. screw others for money) as much as the authors of this report apparently need do, it’s time to exit this world.
You and I and even most people on this site know this. The problem (as always) is the people in power take it as gospel and create policy based on it.
Nobody should be surprised, Texass is a trashy state full of shitty people.
Am I alone in being completely sick of “back in the day”? At best, you come off as ignorant when you say that. How hard is it to be broadly specific, “back in the 20th Century” e.g.?
