My only very mild, mostly irrelevant concern with the removal of the Confederate flag from the dimwit’s shirt is that it’s fun to mock people (or in this case, characters) who fetishize it. I’m sure Rockstar’s only thought is “the flag is generally offensive, just get rid of it regardless of the context,” which is

1) Yes. Wholeheartedly agree.

2) Holy shit, is the comment system fixed a little bit? I was able to see and respond to a gray!

They should have done no step on snek.

If there’s ONE good thing about the Dukes of Hazzard remake movie, it was the part where even the hillbilly fuckup main characters get the General Lee car and are like “why the fuck is there a confederate flag on it?”.

And then they get made fun of and yelled at a few times in the movie while they sort of sheepishly do

i mean, his arrogant, self assured ignorance is part of his character, so it completely makes sense for him to have formed some warped world view around the topic, further exemplified by his “heritage not hate” flag. He know what he knows, regardless of what you think you know. That same attitude gets his arm blown

The confederate flag is a symbol of a failed nation and way of life. Everything else is just what people want to read into it.

Yeah, I’m not going to go crying “censorship” over this or anything, but IMO wearing the Confederate flag was a good, quick intro to Phil Cassidy and the kind of (terrible) person he is.

Hey, I’m lefty and I don’t think this was a needed change. Not gonna complain about it, but it seems to be a shallow addressing of an issue much larger than an NPC’s shirt. I genuinely think his shirt and the flag in his trailer that says “heritage not hate” help you better understand exactly who this guy is meant to

I’m torn on this. As said, he clearly wasn’t an endorsement for the symbol, he was an idiot and a fuckup. So it seems unnecessary to remove it. I find it different compared to like Dukes of Hazzard, where the main characters are supposed to be likeable heroes but their car has a half dozen pro-confederacy aspects to

With “consequences” like these I’m sure this piece of shit prick has a future in law enforcement.

Porn gets clicks.

I’m assuming his parents were at a board meeting protesting non-existent Critical Race Theory classes.

I know my calculus, it says U + me = us :p

I’ve been wearing glasses for over 15 years and everytime I get a new pair I say “this is the time I don’t use my t-shirt to clean them, I’ll use the spray and the microfiber cloth” but I can never keep it up. When you wear glasses from when you wake up until you go to bed, I feel like that’s just too inconvenient.

If you have a number of collective scratches on the lenses, I can see how very slightly smoothing down the lens can be a positive thing for vision. Unfortunately, you’re altering the corrective value of the glasses slightly, but again, if the scratches are enough that they’re impairing vision anyway, then this might

I would have rather liked the McCree dev change his name. This video game character did absolutely nothing wrong, and yet he has to go through a name change because of what someone else did? That’s unfair.

People change their name all the time and everyone around them adjusts. There’s no reason this should be any different.

Just add voicelines where he constantly reminds the players of his name. “Howdy I’m Cole Cassidy and it’s High Noon. The name again is Cole Cassidy”. “Cole Cassidy reloading here”.

You say that but in a year or two people will adapt. Between announcers needing to use Cole’s new name, and new players just seeing that, the tide will shift, and the only people still calling him by his old name will be a dwindling old guard.

Normally, I would say that is going to happen but as this is an e-sport with announcers, it may actually get set in the players’ minds since the announcers have been refraining from calling the character by the old name prior to the change.
