Spent Christmas Eve and then most of Christmas day hanging out at my in-laws' house. Put together a Lego set with my 5-year-old and managed to avoid too many conversations with my ultra-right-wing father-in-law (he's the only person I know that is for Trump). Then, when it warmed up in the afternoon a bit yesterday,

I guess it's the crowd I spend time with - but yeah, it seems a lot of people I know are just using Spotify or Pandora. But my iPod is worth its weight in gold to me. And I guess I'm even more of a luddite to them because I still prefer to buy (or borrow from the library) physical media for my music and burn to iTunes.

I think Room on Fire holds up better than Is This it? But both albums are in rotation on my iPod (yeah, I'm still a luddite that listens to music on a dedicated music player) about once every 2-3 months or so.

I kept waiting for Poe and Kylo to bust out their guitars for a topical folk song.

Well, shit. I need to find a better job that will allow me to make more than my teacher's pittance so I can gain further light and knowledge from you. I feel this is a good direction, there's a bright light ahead - indeed there is.

I wasn't investigating! No, it wasn't me! It come up organically. Now, did I ever tell you about the time Eartha Kitt…

Well, I opened up a can of worms. By the way, I totally am skeptical of Going Clear! I have nothing to say one way or the other about the religion of Scientology, its practices or followers except that Tom Cruise was pretty great in Magnolia, wasn't he?

Quick question, Xanderpuss… I did a search for Scientology locations in or near Reno (I just finished reading Going Clear and was curious if there was anything around here) - and found a yelp review on the local temple or whatever. But the reviewer's avatar is the same as yours. So, was that you? Is your alias Xodiak

I say, I do stand corrected! How embarrassing to commit such a faux pas - and on the internet, no less! Oh the old chaps at the Kingskeeper Club shan't let me live this down. I shall retire to my chambers for the evening, ever morose in my social blunder…

So, yeah, I guess the term "by far" is not correct. I should

I think Kumail's style is a little like Joel's - kind of sleepy or lackadaisical. I really am only familiar with Jonah from his appearances on The Indoor Kids.

Favorites are probably Girls' Town ("I'm just a lonely boy…"), SC Conquers the Martians, and Time of the Apes.

I remember watching Christmas Evil one random night on Turner Classic Movies of all places.

He does come across pretty menacingly in those, doesn't he?

The only Rock Against Drugs commercial I remember from my childhood was the one with Danny Elfman, and I'm sad it wasn't included in the video. If I remember correctly, he states that the only drug he's ever on is adrenaline.

I started watching Arrow this year. I'm almost through the first season, and I can't decide if I like it. My wife and I find ourselves muttering our annoyance at different aspects of the show, but then there seems to always be something that hooks us for the next episode. It's not great, but it's pretty entertaining.

Oh

I just played Father Christmas for my HS English class. Though, I forgot about the line asking for a machine gun to scare all the kids in the neighborhood. Our school district had a shooting a couple of years ago, and listening to the song with the class, that line kind landed a little less ironically than Ray Davies

Yeah, but this is unintentionally self-parodying, right? Okay, yeah… I'm kinda slow.

The only thing that worried me was the Fire Sauce. There is nothing more helpless and irresponsible than a man shitting his pants out while in the depths of a Fire Sauce binge.

I'm sure it's been mentioned by someone else here in the comments, but Casino is 20 years old, not 25. Quit making me feel older than I already feel, AVClub!

I didn't get nudity with my copy.
