Well, then I recommend the E34 540i. It was available in the North America as an M-Sport version and hat 282-286 hp.

If available in the US go with an E28 528i.  M30 engine with 184hp - not as fast as the 535i but enough to have some fun and probably waaaaay cheaper.

I swear I made that exact same joke to my wife’s family a couple of years ago. They’re all car nuts, never take public transportation and complained about the congestion and lack of parking spots in the city. Unsurprisingly, they didn’t get what I was hinting at.
