This bit is just one of the weirdest things I've ever seen on TV. Everything about it feels incredibly wrong. Like an episode of The Big Bang Theory with the laugh track removed. Or an episode of The Big Bang Theory with the laugh track.

The John Hurt version is easily one of the best-looking films of 1984. The cinematography is underrated. The movie doesn't really feel like it's a relic of any particular era of filmmaking.
