Whoopi Goldberg along with Robin Williams, Chris Rock and a few others, make up a small club of really talented actors who almost never end up in a movie that makes decent use of their talents. If you go to the first link and scroll waaaaay down, there's a few examples of how they actually got rid of a lot of the orange present in the original. The orange sunlight has been corrected to yellow and the natural skin tones have been desaturated.
