Moore can’t “run third party”. He was nominated by the Republican Party, and he’s on the ballot as a Republican. Nothing can change that. The party leadership can say whatever they want against him, and they could endorse a write-in, but the party can’t “dump” him: he is the Republican candidate.

The GOP can’t remove him from the ballot at this point. They’d have to run a write-in campaign, which would require significant expenditure to get the name of the alternate candidate out there and probably result in splitting the red vote and giving the election to Doug Jones.
