This is why I travel by horse and buggy, or rickshaw when I can.
Fuck that. I just got promoted to manager, and I nevertheless plan on working 4o hours on the dot each week. A lot of older managers are in the habit of logging on in the evenings at my company, and I can tell you all that there is a 0% chance of me doing that. As soon as I do it, it will become the expectation. Nope.
She’s a fucking weirdo with bad social skills. Her advice is useless.
for real, I’m sure they’ve had rowdy white girl bachelorette parties and let it slide.
Right? “The Wine Train” just sounds like an absolute riot; the kind of place you can totally go and drink wine with your book club and occasionally even allow noises like laughter to leave your face. They need to change this to “The Scowling Moneyed Pearl-Clutching Day Drunk White Ladies’ Transit Line.”
I read:
A Black Women's Book Club Was Kicked Off a White Train for Laughing
god why do people enjoy themselves in public when I’m trying to be a cranky mccrankster
Seriously, it’s like kicking ladies out of a showing of Magic Mike: XXL for hooting and whistling.
Okay seriously I have been to Napa Valley and although I’ve never been on the wine train, literally every single place in Napa is white women getting drunk and being loud. Every where. Even French Laundry. And that place is hoity toity af.
You’re going to have something called a Wine Train and expect groups of women not to get rowdy? What’s the point then?!
I’ve worked in transport (in an office as a broker, not as a driver). The main problem is the high time spent away from home. You spend days and days and days away, and the only way to really get ahead is to spend MONTHS away. Some of the most successful drivers who actually manage to buy another truck and hire…
Not to excuse or downplay sexism in Tech or Finance, but these are the kinds of stories I really, REALLY would like to see more of in women’s spaces and for feminists to grapple with. I get that its hard being a woman making $100k a year in a job where a man makes $129k, and that it really sucks when some bros want to…
Counteracting bouyency with weight. If you displace some air with something like sand, you end up with a container that has bouyency but has gravity working harder against it in the water, though not enough to make it completely sink. sometimes the glass bottle itself was dense and heavy enough to do that on its own.

! that’s still so cool!
not sure if my vagina will ever unclench after reading this
Great. Now can they work on unionizing adjunct faculty in colleges and universities?
There’s so much anti-union sentiment out there, it’s easy for the real and gritty history of American union greatness to slip away, and it’s a painful, difficult lesson to have to re-learn.
Thank you. The 40 hour week, paid vacation, sick leave, benefits, pension, wrongful termination et al. are curtesy of the trade union movement. Please tell me what ownership and management offer workers in an ‘unfettered’ free enterprise business (aside from CEO bonuses paid whether business prospered or not).
