IDK where in the OC you are, but FlyGirls in Costa Mesa is run by a former airline attendant, and she’s pretty awesome. Completely on the up and up there!

Technically the Orthodox church was the first Christian church, then you Catholics broke off. :P

In the NYT article, it says that licenses can be faked or sold, so maybe that happens here in CA.

Apparently the pricing is really that different. I pay $45 for a regular and $90 for a gel mani/pedi in Los Angeles... apparently $20 for a regular mani pedi is the norm?? Not sure.

You have to be certified in CA, too.

Exactly! I’ve been going to the same place for years, and I know all the ladies, plus intimate details about their lives. Go to a reputable salon. It will cost WAY more money, but then you’re not contributing to the problem.

I pay $90 for a gel mani pedi, and I usually tip $20. I’m not paying $180. That’s crazy.

When I go get my nails done, I go to a reputable location that’s been around since I was a little girl. It costs about $45 for a regular mani/pedi, $90 for gels. I always tip $10 per worker. It’s worth it to know I’m not contributing to human rights violations. I can’t imagine paying $15 for a mani/pedi.

I had five bridesmaids (three friends, his sister, my sister). Next time, I’m not sure I can pare it down much, since I’ll have an additional sister to put up there. She was a flower girl last time around. But I don’t want to have any parties except for a bachelorette.

Zhang Ziyi’s is INCREDIBLE.

It’s pretty hard to pay half that rent on $40,000 year, when you have student loans and a car payment. Because out here, you really do need a car. Otherwise, you’re going to spend a heck of a lot on Zipcar and Uber.

You can find them in Koreatown, Hancock Park, East LA. Basically in the little run-down areas that haven’t gentrified yet. I just left Koreatown, and we paid $1600, but only because my roommate lived there for a decade. They were renting that place for about $2100 after we moved out. Terrible plumbing, no heat, barely

Taluca Lake is so pretty!! I think as long as you stay close to Ventura Blvd, it’s not that bad. I lived in North Hollywood for two years, and it was just awful.

Marina Del Rey will completely flatten if the Big One ever hits. It’s completely sediment, there.

Geologists are predicting a 7-8 magnitude earthquake in the next 30 years, according to my geology professor in Los Angeles.

YES. OH MY GOSH YES. Don’t come to California. There’s no water.

So true. My sister spent 30k on her wedding, didn’t go into debt. She just saved for a couple years while dating her now-husband.

I didn’t even realize she was born. Guess that’s what happens when you to the mountains for the weekend with zero reception.

The museum is in Grand Rapids, but the library is in Ann Arbor.
