This was super funny! Sounds like you handled it gracefully. The same thing happened to one of my professors when she took a summer fellowship in China. People kept trying to set her up, and she even got a few proposals. Apparently there's a serious woman shortage in China!!

I’m totally going to vote for her!

I worked at Subway in high school, and I had this one teenager who got the kid's round sandwich (back when they had it), with turkey, tons of mayo, and handfuls of black olives. It was DISGUSTING. She also had a safety pin in her lip piercing. As a sheltered homeschooler, I was quite befuddled by this girl.

Coachella is the worst part about living in Los Angeles, in my opinion.

Gosh. This is just so heartbreaking and beautiful.

Her best friend died.

You would think... you can totally lie on a marriage license and get away with it. I know a girl who had a divorce finalized 2 weeks before her wedding. Problem was, she told the groom it was finalized like 4 years earlier. So she lied about the divorce date on the application, since in CA, you don't have to show

But it's Tim Burton!!! This could be either really fucking awesome or really fucked up...

Um, guys. Dumbo is being directed by Tim Burton. I am super excited for this now!!!!

It's the metal frame that comes with the mattress. I don't get why people don't have them. You can get used ones really cheap on Craigslist.

Huh. I just... IDK. Because I wear hoop skirts a couple times a year to Victorian themed events, and I wear them with Disney ball gowns... but I'm not in college, and I bet most college students really don't throw that many Victorian themed teas. So I can see the point, especially if it's being used

Just came down here to say that I grew up about 5 blocks from the Cerritos Mall (where Gigi got her makeup applied). My sister got her makeup done at that same MAC last fall, and she came out with almost the exact same face.

I was homeschooled, so my mother was in control of where my transcripts went. You can't get into college without them, unless you take the GED.

Religious lady right here who is pro-birth control and pro-choice. I'm Episcopal, but I was raised Baptist, and pretty much every Southern Baptist or Independent Fundamental Baptist lady I know used birth control for actual birth control (not just for "health reasons").

That's really great to hear! I will not count out the two women's colleges here, then. :) I know there's a lot of great women's colleges, but I really want her to stay in Southern California. She's homeschooled and totally sheltered, so sending her across the country is a recipe for disaster. I know I'm about 6

That's really good to know! I loved having a liberal arts education, so I will definitely encourage her to apply when it's the time. I don't know very much about Scripps, but I know a ton about the UC system, so that's why I said that. :)

OMG I DID THAT TOO. I loved visiting colleges too, especially the overnight stays!

The liberal arts experience was great, but chapel once a week was not. ;) I don't think liberal arts is a good idea if you're going to go into a ton of debt... I would say, don't do more than 25k. The payments for that amount are not that bad.

Barnard and Smith were on my list, but my parents vetoed them. I had to go to a Christian college. If my 9 year old sister decides she wants a liberal arts education, I'll be bribing her to apply to Mount St. Mary's or Scripps, but if she wants to go into STEM, I will probably encourage her to go to a UC.

I got married for less than $3,000, and no way would I ever put myself through that again. I did not like cooking and doing the flowers the day before the wedding. I did not like running around at midnight the night before decorating. We hired a cheap photographer and got terrible pictures. Next time around (I'm
