Funny thing, this pope seems a lot chiller with abortion.

For women with very, very predictable cycles (such as myself) the “natural” or rhythm method is a viable form of birth control. I could set my watch by my cycle, and when I went off the pill this method worked for me and my husband for 2.5 years to avoid having a baby. Then, it worked in our favor when we were trying…
I don’t know. I got a buddy that all he has to do is sneeze around a woman and he can get her pregnant. 7 kids with 3 different women. The last one was born a few months ago and he’s 44. His oldest is a freshman...in college.
but the study was about women and a specific biological process only they go through. there’s no need to dilute scientific research because julianne at jezebel and assorted internet commenters with no real tie to the work feel like it’s oppressive. because that is bullshit.
True, and from the abstract it seems like a more accurate summary would be “why does menopause happen?” Don’t know why living past menopause would be maladaptive (unless facing severe overcrowding), but it does make sense to ask why menopause itself isn’t selected against.
But living past menopause does impact the survival of other people in your kin group, to the extent that you continue to eat food that could go to your offspring.
Jezebel doesn’t do science well. That’s been long established.
My point still stands, though: this piece is ridiculous.
I don’t understand why people are projecting their personal feelings onto research questions like this. It isn’t a social science study, it is a biological science study.
Absolutely. I don't see why it was necessary to tag cultural issue onto what is a simple scientific question. Our biology doesn't give any thought to our beliefs or cultural norms.
Yeah, I don’t get the snark. Science is about asking and answering such questions.
From a strictly scientific standpoint, it is an interesting question.

I’m pretty sure clothes come in different sizes? Maybe they had iphones from before their houses were rubble (there are a lot of upper class Syrians), or have older model used phones?
International phone service is as expensive as hell no matter what phone you use. Fridges are necessary to keep food in. Phones are necessary to play candy crush.
Donated clothes that all fit perfectly? And I think I spot an iPhone, headphones and even a battery bank.
They are NOT refugees. They are economic migrants who abandoned their wives, children and elderly parents as well as their country. If able bodied young men don’t fight to fix Syria’s problem, who is going to? USA?
These men fled their responsibilities and are complaining about bad wifi and the food of the lands that took them in, so US is wise about not let them in. Many of them sold their little girls to a rape hell to pay the smuglers, so I do not feel sorry for them.
All on their smartphones and wearing fancy clothes I see.
