There are a lot of cranky people who comment here. If the car is priced too low, they say “What’s wrong with it??” Or “Why didn’t they fix EVERYTHING before posting it?”, but if someone puts in the time they say, “Overpriced for a ticking time bomb.”

I kept looking for what was wrong with it at $2K. If it were my ride I would start asking almost double that- this is a simple, classic shape, durable car. I loved these Explorers (though the money saved on the basic V6 flew out the window via shitty mileage vs the SOHC V6- my family had one of each).

Yeah, it doesn’t get too much better for $2k.  What do people expect anymore?

This. I was looking at an ‘02 Mitsubishi Montero earlier this summer. On Saturday I saw it, and I scheduled a Monday appointment with my mechanic. On Sunday I got a call that it was sold. Sometimes you just gotta roll the dice.

This is a second-gen. First-gen are the boxier ones, which are definitely rare on the roads now, as you said.

It’s $2k, roll the dice. Drive it until it shits out.

You dont fix major items on a mass market vehicle like this you just swap in a different engine.

It might be that there are so many Explorers of this vintage available that you have to price it lower for a quick sale. I agree though that a PPI is a must.

My gracious. It's a car you can buy for your dog.

Michelins is universal language for “I took care of my ride.”

$2,000 for a relatively modern car that (apparently) has no major issues, is in decent cosmetic condition, has new tires on it (worth a bit all by themselves), and is only at 140k? Get a PPI for sure, but assuming nothing horrible pops up this is a Nice Price all week long and twice on Sunday. It’s getting hard to

Your American Idol reference is baffling to me

Now show me a clean 81 Aries coupe with a 2.2L, 5-speed manual, and low miles then we can start talking $4500 for a K-car.

I actually run a K-car page on FB. I’ve had way more K-cars than anyone should have had in a single lifetime. This car is $2500 at best. Maybe $3500 could be wrested from some poor soul, but this is a $2500 Reliant.

Which of these vehicles would you, without pause, consider employing as a daily driver?”

It is nice to see a Buick with a stick tho.

You can find them in better shape, with less miles and about half the money all day.

Good find. If the owner didn’t drop the reserve and run away with the $6200, this one will stay with the owner for a while. It’s a lifted 4x2, standard cab with a trashed dash cap and a light bar. $7500 is a big ask to drive a poser 35 year-old truck.  It’s a $5k truck. Maybe someone would go $6K as the highest bid

I can get Ford Rangers around year 2000 in better shape w/extra cab space for $4000 around Texas, same appx. mileage. No way would I pay the Ancient Toyota Tax for this thing with crappier interior. No Dice.

Looks like it failed to meet reserve on ebay, but did see a lot of bids:
