He’s also very skillful with comic irony. I enjoyed watching that in his series Paranoia Agent.

Right? How many 16-year-olds living with their mom (mum?) in England could there possibly be?
You say it’s streaming online for free, yet fail to mention where? Lame.
Yeah all of these are absolutely recommended. Just simply some of the best anime I’ve ever seen.
Perfect Blue is on par with Hitchcock and will stick with you long after watching. You share the disorientation and unraveling sanity with the main character and are kept on a razor’s edge all the way to the climax. Incredible filmmaking and a standout in Japanese animated features.
At the time I am writing this, the article says “Tokyo Godfathers, which in stark contrast to his other films, is about three homeless men who find a baby and attempt to reunite the child with its mother.” It is actually one man, one girl, and a trans woman. And they are all dysfunctionally adorable. I promise you…
Re: Microsoft. Yes, limited, because, they didn’t get user data. Yes, limited, because they couldn’t deploy source code. Yes, limited because they didn’t even get all the source code.
Agree! He was mostly logical up until he basically said, “We’re moving to San Francisco, or else!”
We know they’re headed for a breakup. Mrs. F. and I thought the show was doing Toby dirty. But his “solution” delivered after their heartfelt and wrenching discussion was not cool. He wants it all and thinks the best solution is for Kate to subjugate herself. They’re in a difficult spot and his ultimatum did not help.
if I’m going to watch a movie, I’m going to watch it in one sitting; I even hate the “intermission” that Coppola crowbarred into the middle of Godfather 2 LOL. But sometimes directors go a little crazy testing the limits of people’s patience and bladders sharing their “vision” with us and that’s just self-indulgent…
well, i’d like to believe the creators were just underlining how oblivious Judy is to how psychotic and unstable she is, rather than considering her actions hilarious and excusable.
I found it funny, but I was more impressed by the ability of that scene to make me go on the one hand “My god, she is a truly horrible person” and on the other hand “I want to give her a hug” To be able to bring fort both feelings is impressive.
People who write about film for a living—particularly the Very Online ones, like the entire AVC staff—generally think movies and TV shows have a way bigger impact on people’s lives than they actually do.
I was a bit baffled by this statement. This review was...interesting
Well, the fact that it’s not in English isn’t necessarily a reason not to have heard of it. It was 2021's highest grossing film for most of the year, it got plenty of coverage in Western media if you follow movie news. As far as I can tell it still hasn’t been released in America though, that’s more of a reason.
tropes that appear in the film are directly responsible for the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes
I saw this restored version in a theater a few weeks ago and it was glorious. You could see the pores on Brando’s face. It was beautiful, can’t wait for Godfather 2.
The thing about anecdotes is there is always the opposite anecdote. I got a mac after recovering data from a catastrophic failure of my second windows laptop in 4 years.
Predictable. Just a bunch of Apple hating trolls on here.
A few years after we bought our house I had to tear out a formal-ish flower garden the previous owner had made, because he had planted peppermint in it, and it had completely taken over.
