It doesn’t help that the majority of Marvel films are, frankly, far longer than they need to be. Other than The Marvels (which you could FEEL the cuts in), you could probably take almost any of their output over the last decade or so (bar Infinity War/Endgame) and easily cut a half hour out without losing any real

The remastered 4K Aliens is awful. The one good thing is the colour-tone adjustment, but the rest has been obliterated by weird “this person’s skin texture fades away mid-shot” processing stuff and the grain being removed just makes it feel “off” imo.

You’ve nailed it better than I put it, tbh - I was coming at it from similar lines, but you worded it far, far better.

I have a sort of double-edged train of thought on this; I’ve never really liked the Doctor being a “romantic” figure at all - I always felt in the older days especially, there was this sense of ‘apartness’ that helped fuel the character (and made the Companion important as the lens by which to see the Doc function).

I think it’s kinda fun - the Romans were constantly messing with calendars, so you could just have a nod to that. ;)

Can you play it single-player properly now? The online aspect always put me off.

I think most things are ok in context - “caps” is no different to some sci-fi opening talking about “credits” or “hyperbucks” or “wangpounds” or whatever; it’s clearly currency of some kind, so that’s not something I see much issue with.

Looks like it could be fun - I think the two of them together will have enough chemistry to keep it entertaining even if the plot is absolute garbage. I’ve got a decent feeling about this one tho.

With a bit of Dual into the mix as well, perhaps?

I pretty much loved it from top to bottom (that moment where the game’s title track kicked in when Lucy was in Vault 4 was *chef’s kiss*), but my one bugbear is over Moldaver’s attack in episode 1. She’s positioning herself as “A Good Person™” and while I understand why she was pissed at Hank, and wanted to get hold

Are these the same Dead Boy Detectives that were in Doom Patrol, or is it one of those weird coincidence things?

I think almost *everyone* in those movies was written a bit on the awkward side at best; I don’t know if that was some sort of Marvel-esque tone they were trying to hit. Kylo suffered badly from it, I agree; rather than make him feel “conflicted” they really just made him feel inept, which was a shame as his initial

If Boyega was to come back - and with all due respect to Ridley - I’d rather see him in a buddy/romance movie with Isaac’s Poe than puppy-dogging his way after Rey.

I know there’s always going to be some assholes, but the idea of homophobia , transphobia (et al) existing in a world where folk are running around able to shoot building-destroying laser beams from their eyes always gives me a bit of a chuckle. Just goes to show that no matter how things go, there’ll always be

Furthermore, it grossed a billion because it was something DIFFERENT

I think this either hits amazingly and smashes expectations, or flops hellishly - I can’t see it being a middle-runner in that sense.

Yeah, we might just be a couple of oldiewonk Seymour Skinners giving it “No, it’s the Who writers who are wrong....” :D

I agree - it’s not something I cherish. I miss the days of the Companion being just the ordinary person’s eyes into the universe of the Doc, etc.

I remember saying at the time - I thought Gatwa was superb, but I never got the “crackling energy” others seemed to see between him and Gibson. I just thought something about the dynamic felt off - maybe that she was too placid/happy in situations where she shouldn’t be - like when the goblins absconded with the kid,

Like Prey, this feels like a welcome back-to-basics for a beloved franchise and I’m all in for it. Can’t wait.
