I thought it was more Zoolander than Lego movie in a lot of ways (although the fact all three films feature that irritating Ferrell is quite interesting). Enjoyed it, but I do wish it'd embraced the darkness more.

Came on here to say almost the exact same thing, and I actually prefer the look and shape of the XM3s over the XM4s and these new ones. The XM3s felt quite unique, whereas these ones just feel like more polished variations on things like the Echo Buds, etc.
Lemmie know what you think if you do! Always curious to see how folk like it :D
“Primer” and “Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes” are my two favourite timey-wimey movies, and both are such different takes on the concept than I’d seen from anyone else, too.
I loved the first two acts, but the third act completely put me off because it just felt like an endless “Look how good I am at shooting the chaos of war” showreel from Nolan, with an over-long battle sequence that felt utterly lacking in tension or stakes because you had no real concept of who they were fighting…
I honestly think I already love this movie. I can’t wait for it :)
Yeah, I saw him in Mando, I just expected that in itself to be a bit of a teaser for him showing up in this series as well. I hope he’s not been pushed off to the side (although I guess with him needing to be a CG character, it’d be understandable as well).
1991 is a hellishly long time ago. I was only 10, but it’s depressing to think how far back that is now!
I can’t wait for this. I’ve wanted to see Thrawn given the place he deserves in live action ever since the first Zahn book I read when I was a kid. I’m glad I finally watched Rebels earlier this year so that I can actually enjoy this knowing who the hell everyone is.
I wonder if this is going to be a bait-and-switch like X-Force and he’s going to have the suit on for all of five minutes before it gets wrecked or discarded in some way.
Anyone notice how Gravik’s healing factor looked a lot like the Extremis effect in Iron Man 3? Not sure if that will be significant or not.
The thing that bugged me most about this ep is the (presumably) Skrull on the sub, leaping at and trying to reactivate the strike after it’s aborted - seemed to have zero follow-up. Like, should we not have seen him being arrested at the very least? Or dragged to the floor by other officers? Something!
A lot of that is due to the beyond-words voice cast that the filmmakers were able to wrangle up for the movie ... huge, huge stars
Gwen mentions him being “a vampire” when she’s swinging through New York with Miles in his universe, iirc.
Speaking of ads - what’s the M1: Save Invest Borrow thing? Is that an ad too?
I have a question about the Bechdel Test; does it count as a pass if the women are talking about a baby/child who is male? Is the “man” in the criteria specifically an adult male?
And speaking of potentially surprising movies that pass; I’m fairly sure there’s a scene in Ed Wood where Sarah Jessica Parker and Juliet…
I’d have loved for them to do something interesting here, rather than this lame schlocky nonsense.
This looks like absolute garbage. I don’t tend to write off films in advance all that much, but honestly, this feels like a complete mess. Kraven feels more like Wolverine in many ways, and then there’s the weird Granny Weatherwax borrowing powers they seem to have given him.
“I’ll bet money that the one alt Gwen Stacy they zeroed in on as being excited about is an actual trans Gwen Stacy.”
Was thinking this too. Let her be a black and trans Gwen (maybe she was born as Miles in her universe but transitioned?).
