Have you ever read the sequels? They’re even worse. Appallingly so at some points.

I don’t actually mind too much about DV’s changes to the characters (bar the feeling that he turned Stilgar too much into comic relief, which nagged at me), but I remember my biggest feeling coming away from Part One was that he did nowhere near enough to show just why Paul was so dangerous. Nothing about the Prana…
Wasn’t he supposed to be doing Rendezvous with Rama next?
That is a decent viewpoint, but doesn’t it clash a little with “we won’t attack an unarmed opponent” - which a stab in the back while swarming would effectively be parallel to? ;)
I do find it funny how the “noble” Jedi so often gang up in number against an individual baddie. Fight fair, you bastards!
Sigh. :(
I feel like this is going to be one of those movies that flops (massively!) at the box office, but ends up being taught in film studies classes for decades, both for the good and the bad of it.
Big idle speculation time:
To be honest, “Space Babies” was so unbelievably bad, it’s amazing the show didn’t haemorrhage viewers in their droves.
I think they’re going to end up revealing the twins to be one “soul” split in two, with a resulting dark and light side.
I’m very much on the opposite side here; I’m delighted to move away from “Here’s every dullard in the Companion’s friends & family” and more into “here’s an adventure.”
Random thoughts:
Looks like a lot of fun - I’m glad they were able to keep the main voice cast for continuity too.
My money is still on the Rani, but with Omega also in the running.
I still maintain one of them should have died to make Kang feel like an actual threat, even in “defeat."
I thought she was making a Lost pun with the Dharma thing, but maybe not!
That shot of the woman shining the industrial-strength torch through herself... that’s unique. I like that a lot.
I feel like the facehuggers are going to be more of a focus on this one - expect them to be stalking the cast for a while before the last 30 mins or so is chestbuster/xeno time.
Oh, ok, Expanse was a Netflix exclusive here in the UK, so my bad there.
I guess that’s business for you - Netflix can’t base renewals on what another service got (even if that’s actually available data for them) - but hopefully enough folk will click in to justify giving it a second season.
