It’s not that it is republican leaning - it is just that it is guaranteed to generate at best - apathy. At a time when apathy is the path to total ruin.

Seriously? All political stuff aside, everything was pretty weak.

The impeachment probe blocked Trump’s scheme to create another “But Her Emails” scheme. That in itself matters a lot.

I think Jost and Johansson are a perfect couple, inasmuch as they believe not so much in centrism, but more that they feel they have earned everything they’ve gotten, and that everyone who criticizes or has some sort of political opinion about their own welfare or safety that won’t affect J&J’s wealth and status are…

The writer’s room needs a shakeup. I would love to see Jost and Che move on. I would love to see Lorne move on most of all.

Lorne obviously has a huge impact (I know Taran Killam said he didn’t want them writing heavy anti-Trump material), but I have a feeling most of the current writers don’t care about politics and would rather not go into these types of sketches. He/They really did not go into the countless dumb shit the GOP is currently doing.

It’s a dumb know-it-all smugness positing that doing anything with the slightest bit of integrity is just oh so dumb and laughably naive, and it is based on the flawed, evidence-free assumption that Trump has some sort of coherent political strategy that getting impeached fits right into. 

I’m very interested in how much Lorne's influence is blocking the writer's room from truly taking the gloves off on the political stuff. I know Jost is terrible as head writer but Lorne ultimately picks the sketches every week.

I might feel this way if they threw in some material about the Republicans actively refusing to acknowledge evidence of Trump’s guilt along with their ‘Democrats are scared losers who are losing’ stuff, but for some reason they don’t do that.

Snow Crash is a bit like what you’d get if you picked up Ernest Cline’s Ready Player One and then aggressively shook all the copyright violations out of it

Back when the AVC did stuff and had comprehensive tv coverage, the TV Classic set actually went back and reviewed the early SNL seasons too. I assume that got a lot of writers caught up, and a lot if us are just old (and night owls), so it isn’t that hard to imagine....just painful.

I guess Colin Jost is trying for some of that Dennis Miller relevance.

In Westworld it was an explicitly discredited theory used as inspiration for artificial intelligence though.

With the wholesale changes and improvements that other shows have made to their mediocre source material (Preacher, American Gods), I see no reason to maintain fealty to deflating endings or sex computers.
