I mean, they made amends enough that her daughter was in Once Upon a Time

How many times do we need to have this conversation?

Your friend sounds terrible

Friend of mine was at a club where he was shouting upstairs for an hour or so. On his way out he was still mad, and while ranting he casually slapped her and several other women on the ass. Dude’s been garbage forever.

Fuck Nick Cannon and his pseudo-macho alpha male bullshit.

That isn’t what “May-December romance" means.

I love the concept of a studio head seeing Jacob’s Ladder and thinking to himself “I can remake this and make MORE money with it by toning down the elements that made it a cult movie!”

I didn’t mean for this to be a Fight Club-worthy plot twist, but: Charles, author of the blurb above, and A.A. Dowd, author of the movie’s review, are different people. I am yet a third, different person. It’s a rich tapestry of more than one writer making a website around here.

Yeah. I don’t personally care too much that it has been and will continue to be lauded. Though I’ll be annoyed it if wins Best Picture. It’s similar to how I felt about Green Book last year.

How did we spend so much time talking about this one?

Just in case you forgot that this film was made to pander to folks with victim complexes, we have this guy who thinks the AV Club has nothing better to do but sit around hoping that a comic book movie will bomb for some reason.

cue all the butthurt incels to defend Joker

Now playing

My bud Laserface hasn’t been here yet so I’ll take his bit and remind everyone that the Joker is basically this music video

Yeah, as far as uneasy mixtures of psychological drama and exploitation pulp go, I’d say Ma is a hell of a lot better than Joker.

A lot of people are gonna freak out in the comments about the inclusion of Joker - it’s already starting -, but I tend to agree. I’m not in the habit of watching bad movies for fun, and luckily I don’t have to professionally, so it really did make my 2019 list of most disappointing films, and here’s why.

never have I felt more talked-down-to by a film than Joker

The remake tones down the psychedelia and the “Why are we here?” meditations on mortality

If I got a note from Yoko Ono tattooed on myself, it would be this one.

I feel like any religious-based marriage counseling, particularly from those who aren’t qualified, will only want couples to stay together no matter what.

I'm sure that Offset is very religious.
