I’ve actually had a discussion about why I didn’t really like CAH and this was basically my reason. You’re not actually coming up with jokes. I honestly prefer Apples to Apples. It’s much harder to get those offensive jokes and when they land it’s much more satisfying.

I would argue that some of the best seasons of Arrowverse (like Arrow season 2 and Flash season 1) tend not to have a big bad for the first half. Or if they do, it’s teased out in small bits, while the show focuses on characters and episodic stories. Then around the mid-season, they do a reveal about the big bad, and

THIS IS KATANA SHE’S GOT MY BACK

I’m a sucker for any story that has the hero outsmarting a villain who (mostly correctly) assumes the hero poses no threat.

I get what you mean, but I think Deadpool is the reason that Aquaman(?!) is basically cracking jokes and making gobs of money, and that we even got a movie like Logan in the first place. Civil War might be a better movie, and have more staying power in terms of long run, but in terms of affecting the genre, it’s

The thing about Deadpool is: he knows he’s in a movie!

In fact, I don’t think Crazy Steve ever figures out that Lex Luthor was manipulating him into killing Super Jesus.

Honestly with toxic fanboys it’s a Kobayashi Maru.

Yes killing a character right at the beginning of this movie will set it apart from say X-men: The Last Stand, which starts with Jean Grey killing... hmmmm

He was never attached to direct. Probably had more to do with Apocalypse being underwhelming at the box office and critically (and, more subjectively, seeming like the work of someone a bit fed up) than the other reasons why he might be removed from a film.

I’m going to take a middling position and say that the big issue is that there isn’t much audience investment in this Jean Grey going into the film, which would be a big help in making a fall from grace compelling.

We live on a toilet planet. I can’t even imagine why the Skrulls would even want it.

The MCU needs Sub-Mariner.

I know. Not only are there so many action sequences there’s barely in down time, but the plot and characterization elements aren’t that bad anyway

“They’re the reason you keep your finger on fast-forward when you’re rewatching a Mission: Impossible movie.”

You answered your own question. They’re investing in new programming. Their own programming. Not something half owned by Disney, who is also opening a competing streaming service.

One thing I am truly thankful for: Who Framed Roger Rabbit came out long before CGI could make... this.

I’ve done it. It cost me $900 trillion but I, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara, have obtained the film rights to Pokemon. This beloved franchise based around cartoonish, cute and adorable monster characters is now ours.

This premise has occurred to me many times with different famous acts/forms of entertainment and it always ends in the same painful realization that I wouldn’t be able to capitalize on my alt-earth knowledge. I’d know a bunch of songs but only be able to sing them off-key and know 75% of the lyrics. I’d be trying to
