It’s funny, because the Vette went from “pretty cool car that I actually have a small desire to own someday” to “really awesome car that I want to try, but have no desire to own.” I just don’t see myself being happy living without a stick. Maybe if I bought a Miata on the side and a C8 Vette I could live with it, but

Having lived in some bad neighborhoods, you don’t want to get involved here unless you HAVE to. The sort of unstable maniac who grenades his own car is not one to be trifled with.

My friend has a saying about not arguing with some people. He says “don’t play chess with a pigeon”... If you do he says before you are done;

I had a guy not too long ago arguing with me about the Model 3 being $35k. I told him that the $35k Model 3 NEVER existed, and that they were closer to $50k. He proceeded to pull up the recent (at the time) story about the Model 3 finally becoming $35k. I told him to look at the date of the story, and actually read

You’ve identified the top two characteristics of the new C8.

What’s this have to do with the C8?

Best of all, NO DEMOCRATS! He has them killed, I believe.

They are still a snooze to drive though even checking those boxes.  A stick would do wonders to adding driver engagement.

Trolling much?

Stiff fines will result.

Isetta ladder?

No no no, thats oil from a sperm whale that's what we want on our leather.

Toyota and Honda continually reinvests in their cars. They redesign their cars about every six years or so, with a mid-cycle refresh in between. They’ve been selling the same nameplates (Corolla, Camry, Civic, Accord) for decades.

GM, Ford, and FCA routinely let their cars wither on the vine for years past their

I see no reason for buying any GTI beyond the Rabbit (formerly Sport, which I own). I paid <$24K for my Sport. Stick, VAQ diff, big brakes, good headlights. Plaid seats - there is nothing else that is necessary.

Not in my area... no one will compare these two.

You get the GTI because you wanted a GTI and you got the Merc because you can’t let Nancy at work have a nicer badge than you.

I miss Tavarish.

And it’s pretty clear judging by the other GMG blogs that the requirements of the jobs around here have become first and foremost to agree with their politics first, with the whole ‘actually being qualified to write about the topic’ coming in a far second.

I miss Tavarish.

I don’t think anyone that buys one of these is going to get asked:

I wish we got the hatchback in the states, but I wouldn’t call it a GTI competitor. There’s a $10k price difference, not to mention the Benz can’t be had with a manual. Used, that’s a completely different story.
