I have a few thoughts on this, and I think both the anti gun control and the pro gun control people get a lot of things wrong.

What’s weird is that is exactly how I would describe how Bernie is treated on here.

I certainly don’t expect young white people to get behind someone who isn’t promising free stuff.

So Splinter is now doing the “African American woman running for President = just another candidate” bit

Look, we all saw Trump bait Elizabeth Warren with the DNA nonsense, and if what you want is for the Dems to advance towards impeachment, knowing Republicans will shoot it down in the Senate, all so Trump can take another victory lap just like he did after Barr’s summary, and use that going into the 2020 elections,

Or maybe he paddles her while she confesses she was a bad girl again.

Nah, get outta here wit’ yer logic ‘n stuff. We need to feed The Base just as much as Trump does: their policy positions are different, but their need for raw meat is just the same.

Once again, Libby demonstrates that she is completely out of her depth. This is what happens if we try impeachment:

Splinter: No One Except Bernie 2020

You guys do know that Michael Bloomberg singlehandedly outspent the entire “gun lobby” in 2016, right?

No matter how rich we are, if we add enough poor people to our society, free health care and college becomes impossible. What Bernie Sanders is proposing is that we go from being a rich country with no free health care or college to a rich country with those things. Allowing an unlimited number of poor people into the

That’s not an answer.  Show your work and then explain how Bernie could make the same argument and win an election.

How does Medicare for All work when every poor person in the hemisphere can enter the US? Can we afford health care for All Americans, plus everyone who wants health care and can reach the U.S

The Founding Fathers also intended guns to be held for use against an oppressive state, not for self-defense.  So the opposite of your argument is closer to the truth, that we should be allowed military-grade weapons.

Thank you for a reasonable comment, and I mostly agree with you. Gun violence happens, and happens more in places like America where guns are allowed. But is the issue gun violence or violence in general? Violence doesn’t go away with the tool. The tool changes.

If I beat you with a baseball bat, that’s an assault weapon. It’s a meaningless term invented to frighten children.

Well a gun can also be used as a deterrence against violence, by raising the risk for the other person involved and making them back down, or discouraging those who would otherwise do violence from doing so.

I think that’s ridiculous. We’ve all already decided whether we support Trump or not, even if some don’t publicly admit it. This isn’t going to change anyone’s mind, if anything, it just further reinforces his base, and gives Russia and Putin the confidence to even further interfere in the 2020 elections.

Magazines are untrackable and don’t need ID to purchase, and since the dealer did everything they were supposed to, there’s no reason that they should be sued for selling the gun. The Air Force suit is more important in this case.
