Done So Done is spending 2019 half baked

Why the hell not? We have plenty of them who aren’t OB/GYN making decisions about healthcare for women! This is Trump’s America, friend! You don’t have to be qualified to do a damn thing here anymore!

The course’s name strikes you as being the immediate problem here.

Bingo. The GOP is apparently very enthusiastically joining in with the agenda of the extreme right racist scum of the “Alt right”, a.k.a. dumb fuck neo-Nazis. I guess Republicans really are just a bunch of bigots after all, no matter how much they try to dress themselves up as just wanting lower taxes and smaller

Why does it matter so much to you?

Maybe you should reserve judgment until you know what the course is actually about. Your complaint makes you seem pretty thin skinned.

As someone who both bikes and drives in Madison, it’s not particularly hard to do either, and if Steve Nass finds it so difficult, he’s probably not qualified to be a legislator.

White people invented the us versus them mentality, so it’s a little rich when we clutch our pearls at the notion that people might respond to the deeply segregated racial structure we have built and upheld for our sole benefit by feeling a little bit confrontational.

Well you’re certainly doing lots to unite us here. Keep up the good work...

The Republicans’ objection isn’t about the particularities of the name. It’s part of a script designed to shut down critical discussion of race, where the person who says “we need to talk about race” is the racist because they are the one bringing up race. This is scary stuff, and will get scarier after January 20th.

Force them all to audit the course. Maybe they’ll learn something outside of their echo chamber.

I don’t really have a problem with the name, but it’s like the college course equivalent of clickbait. Most people who’ll take it will probably go in like “Oh, this’ll probably be about the institutionalized white power structure and it’s pervasive racial oppression throughout the western world”, but a republican

This political trend right now that is propagating the notion that legislatures should have the final say over the academic work done at colleges and universities is absolutely, nightmare-inducingly chilling.

“Whiteness” is a construct designed by a particular group of people in order to exclude particular other groups and deny them their rights. It has been used to mean or to exclude a variety of people of varying skin tones and ethnic backgrounds, depending on what was convenient at the time. “Blackness” is also a social

The problem is your refusal/inability to read the word in context. “Whiteness” is clearly not referring to the immutable physical trait in this instance.

Yeah, it’s almost as if you have to think more deeply about what the phrase means instead of taking it at its most literal interpretation. Like a university student.

Not just university courses, but bike lanes! From Steve Nass’ wiki page:

people need to learn to separate criticism of an entity from criticism of the individuals who make up that entity. Hating “Whiteness” as a structural inequity is way different from hating “You, White Person”. Same way I can say “organized religion is awful” and respect You, A Religious Person, exercising your shit.

Just another coward demanding the whole world be his safe space.

Hollywood is especially tough on our Asian American actors and actresses. It’s really unfair.
