On the one hand, I love the idea of this memorial. You think Lonzak wasn’t secretly crushing on Arachnia, Queen of the Spider-People? Think again. Way to honor a great, inspiring captain (and a crackerjack actress).

I would say the big difference here is that Kylo has been offered redemption since the first scene in TFA. Hell, even Snoke kinda thought he wasn’t evil enough and told him to try harder.
