I wanted to chime in and thank you for writing this. Fanfiction takes a lot of slag, and fan culture is FAR from perfect, but this is another example of “chatbots” exploiting the work of artists. This article really made me think.

Seems so! Honestly, I think any modern adaptation HAS to lean away from Jordan’s gender politics to be palatable. Moiraine may just be dissembling in that scene, as all she needs to verify the Chosen One’s identity is discover who was not born in the Two Rivers (avoiding spoilers here), but a television adaptation…
Holy smokes, Life! Damien Lewis’s character was constantly listening to zen tapes!
As a distant and bemused observer, Fortnite appears to be the multibillion-dollar equivalent of dumping your toybox onto the carpet and smashing action figures together. (Then going and stealing your adult neighbour’s “collector’s items” and smashing those together too.)
They look like someone’s making a Star Wars show, especially the ‘droid.’
Also approve of the new uniforms! The glittery blue jumpsuits were... not great. (They just screamed “Mass Effect” to me.)
I love that idea that interposing Steve over another man is a metaphor, that’s a really interesting take.
Thank you. Diana is explicitly *characterized* as someone who’s emotionally distant and struggles to connect with people because, you know, they die. Like they had a picture of Etta Candy in her room for that purpose.
Topical story, but I do wonder why the article image is an Air Canada logo in an airport - nothing to do with Health Canada or the Canadian government.
But that page art, damn! Coipiel is amazing, I want THAT series.
I thank you for your positivity and your exceptional user name, sir, madam, or gentleperson.
Spoiler free made by a BookTuber and reviewer:
Weirdly, it sounds like you’d like Andromeda best: open-world, crafting, exploration and map discovery, but with a lot of story and romance/RPG options.
Haven’t seen it yet and glad you enjoyed the episode, but...
You’re not wrong, they did a lot better than I ever would have expected! I’m not a fan (it isn’t too my taste, especially the ultraviolence and cynicism) but I’m impressed at the overall level of the production and critical tone.
I’m glad the episode was decent - and love the idea of personal transporters and the opportunities they offer for action sequences.
Yep. They’d drop a few nukes on Pandora from 20,000 klicks up and nighty-night to the Navi.
Naturally - it’s still TV, and I like Star Trek despite the use of plot armor as well.
I love Star Trek as much as the next nerd, and Lower Decks is delighful, but Starfleet’s competence has always depended on the needs of the episode (you know, the “just beam ‘em down to an alien planet” mentality, sending the Bridge Team on away missions, the great work of “Security” Chiefs Worf, Odo, and Tuvok...)
I’d be REALLY surprised, but the way the synopsis was written made me wonder if Arthur will slowly stew in toxic jealousy that he’s not the “true kin”g till he snaps and betrays her and steals the sword in the Season 1 finale. That would be interesting.
