So true. I had hopes for this show (and still do), but this is ridiculous.

I thought Ten stepped inside the Tardis and disappeared, so to speak, with a cut before he reappeared and, then, Adelaide defied him. He’s a time traveller. That time could have lasted, well, pretty much as long as you want!
Love this take! I’ve never bought the simplistic argument that “the Jedi were the real bad guys all along!” or “The Jedi were corrupt and deserved to fall.” The Jedi had become rigid, doctrinaire, even fearful, but not corrupt per se - they were trying to do an impossible job as the Galaxy’s peacekeepers with a Senate…
Honestly, I think the PT was for me - those were the first Star Wars movies I saw in theatres and as a very small child Jar-Jar and Co. were very “funny.” The ST is for...well, people who have never seen Star Wars before I guess. International audiences who don’t know, or don’t mind, how derivative and vacuous it is…
It’s more about the impression of the “redemption” on the audience though. I feel there’s an important different between a father deciding to choose his son, and a son desperate to belief his father had “good in him”, and the story of Kylo Ren. IMHO.
“Just...fly casual, Chewie!”
Ouch.
I think its Baby Yoda forever now, thanks to the marketing gods.
Huh. That’s somehow...worse? Like, Ben Solo changed his name. It’s not like anyone forced him to do what he did. I suppose that’s more about Star Warsy Light/Dark mumbo jumbo than characterization.
That was the worse punch to the gut in TFA. Walking out of the theatre I had this sour feeling that Kennedy, Abrams, and Disney had NO OTHER IDEA than to just rinse and repeat the first trilogy, thus, undoing everything the original characters had accomplished to the point of rank character assassination...confirmed…
Cool!... But that would require planning and commitment. And these movies hate planning and commitment, my friend.
Yep. Done.
Serious question as this determines whether or not I see this mess in theatres: is Kylo’s redemption supposed to be...real? Like, he apologizes for his murder of billions and killing his own father and people are like... yeah, we believe you?

Right! I think it’s one of the biggest misconceptions about Dune from people who only read the book or saw a bad movie a long time ago... The “feudal” and patriarchal society presented in Dune is SUPPOSED TO FAIL. It’s supposed to be backwards and stagnant! Not a model for our future.
Dayum! I’d watch that.
They are not. They are fantasy books that feature a young girl as the protagonist. They were written before “Y.A.” become a thing.
This is a really interesting take, and I hope that, if they have to do this whole stupid song-and-dance in Episode IX, that this is the final message. (I’m not hopeful, but, again really cool take!)
I get where you’re coming from, but I do think it’s different; part of the problem with the new movies is this mistaken belief they have to remake the originals but “with a *cool* twist.” Vader worked because Luke had a genuine reason to care about /his father/, Rey’s got /nothing/ with Kylo. Han’s moment with Kylo…
This. Thank you.
