I don’t know what’s wrong with me.
I’ll admit that was fun, but to really stir the pot you have to RANK ‘em and throw in the five worst at the end. Let the nerd-rage flow...
My gawds, comics for the kids!? What nonsense is this! (I’m being sarcastic, this sounds amazing. Can’t wait to check them out.)
I bailed on this show when they dropped Lisa Kudrow. She should have run against Fitz for president, giving him a legitimate challenger and helping us realize that Fitz is a TERRIBLE PRESIDENT. Seriously, how has he not been stuck in congressional investigations for years?
Sounds cool! Quick question...is it actually possible to find a still from NuTrek that is on a flat plane? Or are they ALL awful Dutch angles?
The other side of that coin is that serial stories are often (rightly) held to a higher standard! Viewers expect more - more consistency, more character development, and so on. STD hasn’t achieved that (for me), yet, though it had/has promise.
This is classic late 2010s TV right here: no one behaves like a professional or a reasonable adult and everyone is an unlikeable dick in the name of “drama.” Not just DISCO, but so many other shows. It’s...a shame. Poor writing, for the most part.
I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. To be fair, it was a systematic issue in episodic shows - character progression was slow or nonexistent. Data made so little sense...he’d make the same mistakes over and over again...even when I remember him having and working on the same issue in the past (humour, expressions,…
The Discovery runs entirely on a Murphy’s Law drive. Once one disaster ends, the ship will make it to the next one.
I think I read some of those already. You forgot, “I’m a lifelong Trekkie and I love every minute of this!” and “Well, my [wife, children, partner] is a Trekkie and they demand more!” Jesus. One guy actually said, paraphrasing, “I’m a Trekkie. It must be hard not to tune out, turn off, and enjoy.” My first thought…
Trading up!
I respect your bravery, sir. Bashing on Data and Worf at the same time! Truly you are a captain among captains. ...not even joking, that’s a dangerous move.
Woah. Right, I knew Bendis was coming on board...I just don’t feel the compulsive need to renumber everything all the time I guess. ;) Thanks!
Wait, Justice League is coming to an end!? Who cancels Justice League? Or do you mean that there’s a new creative team coming on-board.
Personal opinion as a former server and current drinker: if I’m flying solo I don’t ask for a pitcher. It makes me uncomfortable, and if you ask for a pitchr the server sometimes abandons your table (as going by to refill water is when you have an opportunity to ask for anything and/or ask if the customer has anything…
I just want to say that I agree with this review and appreciate your passionate take on Discovery. Thanks for wading through the blistering hell of comments. That is all.
Agh, tried to edit this...More relevant for later season, not his first few outfits.
I adored Tennant and Smith’s style, but I think Whitaker’s new look really works. Somehow. I don’t know why. It just does, and it is a pretty fresh direction (for NuWho, anyways).
Yeah, I’m glad Capaldi got to have fun, but I hated that his look changed so much. Honestly, this makes me sound stupid, but every few episodes I’d blink and miss the Doctor. I’d think, wait, is that the Doctor this week? I don’t know. He looked like...um...an aging fan, dressing up in different costumes rather than…
