What do you say to people who think "women can't be/aren't funny."?

In Lucky Alice Sebold mentions her own affairs with her students. Granted, they're college students, but it doesn't surprise me that she'd sympathize with this man. She probably feels connected to his mistake herself. They're both kind of f'd up, frankly.

we have two fundamentally different interpretations of this show. To me anything that Peter says is supposed to represent a gullible, idiotic and simplistic view point on the world. Far from being painted the hero of Quahog, Peter is the town dunce. he's not respected by the creators, rather used as a mechanism by

The quotes are taken radically out of context. You're seeing what you want to see because you've built a narrative in your head about Family Guy being sexist. In the future it may benefit you to be more open minded and less defensive. You may learn something new.

If you haven't even seen the clip, I don't know why you're commenting. You really haven't done the research. Speaking as someone who's survived abuse not only from a boyfriend, but also a mentally ill mother, and a rape, and been "victim- blamed" by just about everyone from teachers to friends to former lovers, I can

You see the abuse victim as unsympathetic. I saw her as a very kind girl, who loves her brother. She is painted as a bit naive and lacking confidence, and a lot of people in abusive relationships are lacking in self - esteem.

From the clip above, I did not get that sense at all. If you want to criticize this, please criticize it in the format (satire) that it is presented in, not the format you want it to be.

Family Guy is Satire. The definition of Satire: "Satire is primarily a literary genre or form, although in practice it can also be found in the graphic and performing arts. In satire, vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, ideally with the intent of shaming individuals, and society itself,

Whoa. Hold on guys. This dude is a dick, but mob mentality is setting in when we start passing some guy's name around. What if it's the wrong person? We need to take a step back and get a response from this guy.

Marilyn bashers might want to take note that she had a seriously bad life; abuse, abandonment, the daughter of a mentally ill woman. She also had, what at the time, was not a very well-treated disease: bipolar. She wasn't "weak", she was sick. It's a tragedy she could not get the help she needed. But don't let that

I'm sorry. Why is it news if a 33 yr old likes a 29 yr old? we're not talking about a significant age gap here. I don't really understand what the purpose of this article is, because I'm 29 and if I had a 33 yr old bf, no one would bat an eye.

Yeah, I putzed around on that site once. Everyone is tan WITHIN AN INCH OF THEIR LIVES. They all look like thanksgiving turkeys. uh, no thanks. I'm fine being ugly.

I used to be very overweight and I thought when I lost weight my whole life would change. Sadly, that has not been the case. I think how you carry yourself/dress is way more important than what weight you are.

I think calling it it "the crazies" is a bit insensitive, considering that she seems to have an eating disorder of some kind. Why is it that it's ok to use a "slur" for someone who's obviously suffering from some kind of mental illness?

i think she was overrated from the start.

river phoenix. hands down. sigh.

I think the problem is that these studies are done, which are not conclusive, and then people report them before adequate research has been done to back up the study. Basically, don't listen to bits of info that have not been adequately vetted.
