I’m sorry. You’re right. I need to learn how to make better arguments, not repeat myself, do better research, and not exaggerate things.

All right. I felt that I had my say, but when you call me a “concern troll”, I have to stand up for myself. It’s maddening to have strangers make false assumptions about you.

Aha. I had a feeling that your first response was essentially “I don’t like what you’re saying, so I’m going to dismiss your views as irrelevant.” You have now made your position very clear.

To advocate for nothing beyond the “right now” is as shortsighted as California’s ill-fated “three strikes” policy of the 1990s, which punished criminals but ignored questions of rehabilitation. I think we have the capacity to both respond to the current crisis and consider the longterm effects of that response.

This brings up a serious issue that I think not enough people are talking about.

“I personally find this man creepy, so I’d like to start a rumor that he may have committed sexual assault.”

He played a free show on Sunset Blvd. a couple years ago – his thank-you to the City of West Hollywood for hosting his post-Oscars AIDS fundraisers – and while he played a lot of his old hits, most turned into extensive instrumental jam sessions. As I’d never seen him perform before, I wonder... was that normal?

I can imagine Paramount execs reading the Suburbicon script and thinking “hey, we’re getting a Coen-style noir directed by George Clooney and starring Matt Damon - we can sell this!”

Lesley Manville is in at least three of those films.

Not the best reason, but a good one: During the first year of VH1, Imus was, inexplicably, a VJ. After playing Lionel Richie’s “Say You, Say Me,” which was from the movie White Nights, he commented on the film clips in the video that showed “two very, very ugly white women.” Those women: Helen Mirren and Isabella

It was very stiff competition for Best Original Screenplay this year. That’s a good thing. And hey, PTA did nab an unexpected Best Director nod, which is not exactly “shit”.

Check out Another Year, she’s fantastic in it – though her character is kind of unbearable.

His work in Phantom Thread is very subtle, and his character looks and speaks not unlike the actor himself. In other words, unlike My Left Foot and Lincoln and There Will Be Blood, it’s not a showy “watch him disappear into the character!” role.

Well, Paul Dano’s babyfaced girlfriend played a teenager’s mother in The Monster when she was 32, so I guess Dano figured it works. (It does not work.)

He set the standard for guys like Kurt Vile and DJ Bonebrake.

I hope Reed Morano makes a movie with Rita Moreno.

Ridley Scott will be digitally replacing her with Gal Gadot.

Rock stars don’t have to exert much effort to locate a fully consensual sex partner.

self-conscious, self-doubting recluses who’ve lost the ability to interact romantically with women

I’ve looked at all this year’s Sundance offerings, and not a single one of them sounds unique or exciting, with the exception of Sorry to Bother You. Looking forward to reading your coverage of the festival in hopes that something surprises.
