I don’t think Brooks was entirely wrong - that song and dance number was almost tiresome. Fortunately, Peter Boyle turned it into genius with his strangled line reading(s).

IMO Children’s Hospital already did the definitive “Weird Al played by someone who looks nothing like Weird Al” joke in Country Weekend, but I’m looking forward to this. More Weird Al! What’s not to like?
It still hasn’t been mentioned on Nathan Rabin’s Happy Place, so I think not.
I vaguely remember QL as being rather a generally rather earnest show. But if they incorporated a few wrinkles, like Edge of Tomorrow’s “reboot-by-suicide”, I guess it could be fun.
My compliments to the photographer - if you're going to shoot someone in front of a Peacock sign, that's the way to do it.
Hmm. Well, I stuck with The Simpsons until S11 back in the day and I’m not proud of that. But there is so damned much good TV these days that I find it pretty easy to bail on shows that become less than excellent. The latest example for me was The Expanse: partway through S2 I realized that I had lost interest once…
Heretics and Chapterhouse didn’t come out until ‘84 and ‘85, respectively.
Alien: Covenant is not a dang period piece. It only works for historical settings, because there needs to be general agreement on the existence and nature of the period.
I have to keep reminding myself that I’m going to be disappointed by Panos Cosmatos’ installment of Cabinet of Curiosities, because there’s no way it can be as bizarrely wonderful as Mandy or Beyond the Black Rainbow. But I’m still pretty excited.
As a geologically active individual (I once listened to an audiobook about limestone while using a rowing machine), I guess I also qualify as a planet.
I assume that a conscious decision was made to describe Dustin Diamond’s career as skidding to a halt rather than screeching to a halt. Yet more evidence that the AV Club is classier than me.
That would be nice. In the meantime, check out https://expiringtitlesonamazonprime.blogspot.com/
I don’t mean to disrespect New Zealand, but... are there enough top notch comedians in NZ to make this work? Even the UK version (which I love) has some fairly weak contributors.
It will be several months before I’ve seen enough 2021 films to be sure, but so far I think you’re right. I was dazzled by The Green Knight, but my other faves fall into the “good-to-very-good” or “excellent, but...” categories.
His full name was “Please mistake me for Drake, yo”.
The “Aqua Woman” look is hard to pull off.
For me it was the glorious confluence of the 8th Annual “On Cinema Oscar Special” and the “Our Cinema Oscar Special” back in April. Nothing else even came close.
Speaking of the End Times, where is The Emoji Movie 2?
Night Eats the World was pretty good, but if #Alive is very similar I don’t feel the need to watch it.
I don’t particularly like ACT, but it doesn’t bother me in the way that EM does. I think the entire point of Cricket is to give him the worst character arc in the history of television. To paraphrase Artie from The Larry Sanders Show, in each appearance Cricket “hits rock bottom, then falls through that to a new low I…
