They just don’t care because on some level, they believe people with bad insurance “deserve it.” Molly understands how fortune played into her story, but many would say she is alive because of her good choices. Of employer, of insurance. Because of her parents good choices.
At the top policy-making levels it has nothing to do with being upset that your dollars might be going to help someone who is not you.

I wish more politicians could be forced to read stories like yours so that they understand what the difference is like between having good insurance, and shitty insurance or no insurance.
