The notion that retailers are attempting to cater to resellers is heartbreaking. Fuck toy scalpers. They ruin collecting for everyone.

I don’t disagree with you either. I just wanted to highlight a few things because people obviously think that’s acceptable behavior. Especially when you’re a grown man just looking to hock it for a profit, while a dozen little kids that would be over the moon about their new toy, have to wait for who know’s how long.
I agree.. But these figures aren’t limited run exclusives.. They’re regular retail items that will be abundantly available everywhere when hasbro catches up.
Bummer for them.. Soon enough these toys will have completely saturated the market and we’ll all be complaining that they're hindering the arrival of newer waves.
Plenty of blame to go around, but people need to lean on the Star Wars franchise. The studio’s licensing contract needs to include stronger language to give Hasbro the authority to dictate “per customer” policy — or it can refuse to ship product. Stores are concerned about one thing and only one thing: getting…
I mostly feel bad for the employee, who wasn’t doing anything wrong and doesn’t set these polices, who had to get bitched at by a drunk adult because there weren’t enough toys.
Yeah this is where it get totally shitty. The secondary market on some toys is out of control (amiibo comes to mind) but I expect this is not the same thing. I am seriously hoping anyone who bought multiples to pump up the price on e-Bay and Amazon will be sorely disappointed as I can’t see Hasbro going “Whelp that’s…
I honestly thought it was parody, but I just read a grown man rant on about how he showed up at Toys R Us at midnight and didn’t get the toys he wanted like someone just murdered his family.
Grown men complaining about not getting toys. His twitter avatar has him holding a slave 1 lego.
I always thought the same. Wait a week, Elmo or the iPhone 12f will be back in stock. Must you have it opening day? People are not rational about this.
I like how casually this author explains how he almost threw a temper tantrum, and gave up on buying a toy he wanted because he could not buy all the toys he wanted.
I would also be dumped by my wife if I acted like this about toys, let alone haul our asses to sit in a line at midnight. Her response after reading the article: “Why didn’t he just order it online like a normal person? Was it worth a lego piece that’ll be lost in a couple years and a poster that’ll be tossed in the…
The eBay thing in this case seems weird. People are going to pay a markup on items that, by the time the auction has ended and shipped, are likely going to be already back in-stock at normal price.
The store should’ve limited 1 per customer. You can buy as many different things as you want, but only 1 of any particular item. That’s how it should be. If you want 1 of everything, that’s fine, but only 1.
Reading this entire piece in the voice of the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons is the only way to truly capture its ability to whine at length about nothing.
Right? Like, whoa. If I asked my wife at any point in our relationship to go to a midnight sale for anything with me, she probably would have dumped me.
My thought was he better marry her fast. Cause that’s some love right there.
I’m okay with grown adults enjoying toys like this. Hell, when my kid is old enough for this stuff I’m sure I’ll have fun with him, though we we will actually be playing with these toys, not putting them in a locked cabinet who’s glass panels have to be cleaned three times a day to remove a mysterious buildup of goopy…
Dude, we are allowed to care about more than one thing. It is not a contest.
Poor fiance! She stood by you all night for your hobby, and everyone left sad. And you even thought about putting down the one thing she got for you?
